I see where you're coming from, Kaks, but it does have its uses.. sarcasm is all about the tone of voice, which is hard to convey in print.. and with so much communication done by text these days.. well..

Meh, personally I feel that a non-patented, universally recognised smiley for sarcasm would already be around if it was such an essential part of either texting, or online communication.
Plus - this might well be entirely subjective - one fairly important component of sarcasm seems to lie on leaving the recipients to figure it out by themselves if there was indeed any sarcasm intended to begin with.
Different courses, etc...
