These appears in the log when Bulk haulers are around:

This is an Oolite bug that has already been fixed for 1.74.

Looking great!

Looks like I *have to* learn the art of shaders and bump mapping...

is there an ad-board on the bulk hauler?
Prehaps you could make one with a big screen on it like the air-ship or whatever it is in the sky in bladerunner.
Oolite doesn't support playing video files in the shaders but you could whip up something fairly groovy with the animated ad-board shader

On the LRC there's 2 billboards, but they're very low res ones, and to edit them you have to edit the main texture, this will change in the 1.2 release, i plan on using the standard YAH size res for the billboards and give them there own texture instead of sharing the buildings textures.

But the idea of having billboards on the Bulk Carrier/Super Bulk Carrier intrigues me, I think i'll make a billboard one for the next release too.

Also for the 1.2 release:

Lynx Bulk Carrier, the second massive ship from FFE... Even if it is the ugliest ship in Elite history, I still plan on adding it since its a part of the Elite universe :P

I don't think it's ugly. It's not pretty, certainly, but it's an interesting shape, and it looks like it's made for a purpose. "Functional" might be a better description!

It's been given the nickname "Toilet Brush" by many pilots :P

But yeah, I like it even if it does look weird, reminds me of the massively long cargo container trains you see every now and then on sydneys railroads.

Was there an attempt a while back to make a large ship with attached side-pods, which on arrival at a station would uncouple from the ship and make a docking approach on their own? Or did I dream it? Because, assuming such a thing is possible, the Lynx might be a good candidate for such behaviour (as long as the pods were made small enough to dock on their own ... which wouldn't be very small; each one could be Anaconda-sized).

One thing to think about though would be the economics behind these superships, and how it would influence their behaviour. Would these be in-system craft, plying between mines and factories and the main station? Or would they make wormhole jumps? You've got to think they would be prime targets for piracy, so they'd either have to stick to stable systems or be very well defended.

This was one of Thargoids wee beasties I seem to recall with AI by Eric W and shader's by Griff.

Search for the Hammerhead. 8)

BTW not an attempt anymore but fully working in the Aquatics OXP.

EDIT:

And yes. We have to come up with a good behavior concept for the biggies. The Orisis' and Aurora keep to safe systems. I don't know if ADCK built that in for his ship. Buy from my observations they are only seen in safer systems.

What I would like to see in future is a oxp that offers random escort when you enter the Aegis of a large cruiser or freightship.

If you accept then the game generate random threats that range from No threat at all to full scale planned attacks including nukes, bombs or boarding (hijack) parties.
