Indeed, I would expect that R&D would be continued aboard these ships - and maybe they did find some new technologies which go beyond our understanding? Maybe they even do develop witchspace technology, raid a planet and leave into interstellar space again instead of trying to colonize an already colonized world. Further fun could be that the Thargs do take over a planet, thus resulting in the first thargoid colony available on current chartsKiller Wolf wrote:tell you what tho, gen ships - if i was on one i'd be pretty p155ed off that people had now got to hyperspace capability etc and not told me! be trawling along for decades while people are blitting about left right and centre through witchspace...
Another thing that might happen would be that these Thargoids become more peaceful, like the Oresratians...

The idea of a Thargoid Gen Ship is derived from the idea that humans have them also. And the instinct of a Tharigoid is: 'destroy'. It should indeed be super big and strong. It's a new threat. I smell an OXP.
anyways : what about is the Thargoids came to a system and took over a Coriolis, turning it into a hive? they could then spread out, making smaller "satellite" hives, and link them perhaps w/ umbilical-like tunnels. they could grow in size, threatening an entire planet if not stopped in time.
another thought - these bugs obviously have a far more advanced grasp of WS travel, if they can pull ships out and hover about in it quite happily - what about if they could calculate the most-used WS route, and built a hive in the way? then every trip from xxx to yyy would bump you out right in the middle of a hive - bit like pizza delivery to the door for the Thargs! could have an oxp when you have to circle around to a Navy staging post, dock in a behemoth and jump into WS to destroy the hive and re-open the route.
