I couldn't get onto the BB via my laptop (but I've just rebuilt that so I thought it was me - FF kept telling me site was taking too long to respond). This was approx. 0900 UK time (GMT+1). By the time I'd booted up the desktop machine and logged on all was ok and now I'm back on the laptop and back on the BB - although I've had trouble posting messages - some DEBUG MODE SMTP warnings?!?

[Just noticed that this laptop (I was given it) - has a US Keyboard - I just thought I was being very tired when I was trying to type on it at 1am this morning!!!]

The BB has been flaky off and on all day for me here in Aust. (GMT+10) sometimes it loads, often it times out..
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

WTF? what the hell does a bulletin board need to connect to a mail-server for?

Got the "DEBUG MODE SMTP" message too when posting the "9:20" posting of this thread.

Edit: And my connection timed out when posting this one.

What, triple postings, now.

The BB's were very flaky last night, were alright this morning, but have just gone a bit flaky again.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

Darn.. thought those error messages meant posting was unsuccessful, so I kept trying.. can a mod please get rid of the duplicates for me?

My guess is that somebody is getting email notifications of posts to this thread, and the mail server is probably at oolite.org, and because of the DNS problems, connections to the mail server are timing out.

Yupp. For me too.

@a_c - I'm not sure if the pm works currently - the testfile works without a problem. Bingo!

Likely a fluke; the BB is unreliable at times. The link is right, at any rate (I presume you’re referring to the one at the top of www.oolite.org/links).

Did you click the link in Zbond-Zbond's post? It wasn’t working because of the comma at the end of the .org (I’ve fixed this with my magic powers).

Hey look, a whole nother page!
No, the mail server isn’t at oolite.org. It’s also unreliable at times, but for completely unrelated reasons. :-/

Have the BB clocks gone flaky now. I'm getting BST - 2.

edit: if you see what I mean.
