So far as I know, only Vista and Windows 7 support DirectX 10. For XP, DirectX 9.0c is the latest version.

Uuh. Don't expect anything. Your graphics card must be prepared for DX10 too - and currently only the latest cards can really use it at all (with all it's problems). And the wrapper for OpenGL is still not well working (and slow). Since MS has left the OpenGL conferences (2003) they are trying to block it a bit to demonstrate that DX is sooooo much better - nice guys.

So we can only say - 'thank you' dear dev-team for a good working game on all platforms.

Ok. I don't know if you have visited the following pages, if not give them a try.
So far I haven't found anything that fixes the problem - the Intel auto-detect page only looks at the GMA driver which is up to date, and those driver sites didn't have anything. I have to assume the DX 9.0c is current (this is a work PC and we can't use Windows Update), so it looks like Oolite just has some issues running on a GMA4500. Luckily they're pretty minor problems.
