You need a fairly powerful computer. At hits moment not light version is available. I will make that on request as it is easy to downsize most textures.
Anyone requested a lighter version yet. Like it, but when working together with some of the other eye candy, my laptop starts to complain.

So when you have time and feel like it, I would appreciate a light version of the OXP.

Noted that down. Will do it in time. Any other user experiences?

And how much lighter? Downsize every texture at 512 by 512 or even lighter to 256 by 256. This last option nullifies the Famous Planets experience in my opinion.

512 by 512 should be OK for me. I have an ASUS G1 gaming laptop, and it plays Oolite fine, but when I use some of the more demanding OXP's with a lot of activity on screen things slow down.

What I tend to do is to install high res/ high quality everything and then test it, (just to have a look, still trawling the space ways in high res just to have a look). After that I will drop down if a lighter version is available. So I try to be selective. If this is an easy fix, why not make medium, low and high while you are at it, then people can choose/see the difference for themselves.

I think the wiki page could do with an update as well. The current FP page does not do your work justice..

Also, FP is not linked from the master OXP list (but it is from the list-by-type below).

Well it's just about having too many versions. I don't want 3 versions taking up Lestradae's hosting space.

But I'il look into it.

Yep,

I'm just relaxing a bit atm. Making FP2 was hard work. But The Wiki page is next.

Anyone has a favorite planet yet? Anyone made some travels to planets? Just curious if anyone traveled the space ways.

Hey,

Just started playing my Commander again after a short stint of pretending to code, and I happened to actually be on the Spacelane on my way somewhere! Sotiqu to Esusti, so of course I had to take a shipment of Textiles *g*

Looking and sounding very nice :) Even met an outbound Spaceliner on my first run.

One little niggle though - the docs say that to enable the FP Oolite theme music, the player should copy it into the app-dir of Oolite, replacing (after backing up) the original Oolite theme. IMHO it would be better to tell players to just move the theme music from the FPOolitheTheme (spelling mistake there too - should it be FPOoliteTheme? :) folder into the Music folder within the FP2 OXP instead of fiddling with the installation directory.

Cheers, and keep up the great work!

- Micha.
