Here is the view out of the cockpit window of an Overtuned Juggernaut onto the strange world of Node Zero in galactic sector 3, where an ascended AI rules with an iron fist over its tech level 17 world ...

(Planetary texture borrowed from Famous Planets)

One day to be seen in Oolite Shipyards Extension, but the most relevant view: The DeepSpace Hud in action!

DeepSpace, as huds go, you got yourself a fan over here!

Ah yes, the eight balls on the screen are the eight front-player turrets. They are fully functional

Awed

L

EDIT: Just two nitpickeries

The scoop icon is somewhere down there, perhaps it could get a nicer place. And: Ships with a load of weapons bays (the Juggernauts have them maxed out at 16) don't fit their icons down there ... little cosmetics.

Hey thanks thats very helpful.

 How many Energy Backs!?!? and Missiles/bombs!!! Holy crap! I never factored that into the equation!

Hmmm A rethink on the Missile display or just make them really small! :) I dunno. I'll have a mull over that one.

Many thanks for that.

Hehe. Well, this is one of the most extreme ships. In OSE, a decomissioned Juggernaut (the cheapest one of the bunch) is going to cost 8 million credits. A standard one 16 million credits. This ship is not from my normal game - with my puny 2 million credits I can't afford it ...

It has 16 energy banks and 16 weapons bays, which is the maximum a player can have. So its also fine to demonstrate how far a hud would have to reach to accomodate any possible ship.

BTW, you have PM :D

Cheers

I've given the HUD a tweak. Hopefully most of those 16 missiles will fit now. Fingers crossed. I've move the Fuel Scoop to the center of the screen just above the scanner I hope, its a guess really.

Fancy giving that a try mr EXTREME!!

Just click on the banner in my sig to download the updated version. Tsk on 2.01 already its only been online few hours ha ha ha ha

So what does it look like from the outside?

And how big is that in relation to a Long Range Cruiser (LRC) from E2F/FFE?

Difficult to answer, as the scales are that different.

The model I use for the Juggernauts is basically an old Behemoth model, with altered nameplate.

I think the Long Range Cruiser of Frontier/FFE was/is bigger in relation to the stations of those games than the Juggernaut in relation to a standard Coriolis of Oolite. Has to be that way, otherwise the barely possible docking would be off ... not the best for a player ship.

In my own game, I definitely aspire to a Decomissioned Juggernaut as ship for the very long term. You can still be shot down in it - but the odd Boa still splashes on its windscreen. Befitting for an evil emperor (at least wannabe)

Cheers

As long as you don't actually want to fly one. They've got the turning circle of a small country...

Well ... they have roll 0.4 and pitch 0.2 and a speed of 0.30LS!

I'm sure you'll not find a lot of countries with those stats :P

And don't try and refuel one in a refueling ring. :D
I was working on a ship to slot in between the anaconda and the boa not quite this huge thing but, hey...... does this thing come with a compliment of fighters?

We need a docking bay for this size of ships. They cannot dock at the station I assume? Or do you get those weird docking sequences like somewhere in the screenshot thread?

Tried the Fuel Station for fun ... ka-boom :(

The NPC version does come with fighters, and I am thinking about something for the player version too, but that's a question of game balance and a long way down on my to-do list for OSE.

They can dock at most stations. For some reason, planetfall doesn't work with them. To get them compatible with that one is also something on my to-do list for later.

I attempt to not let the NPC versions dock/launch, also, you guess it, to-do list for the moment.

But if someone came along with a solution of a bigger/alternative docking mechanism for big carriers count me in. Passenger terminal perhaps as someone suggested, no idea if that could be oxp'ed in.

Just a few thoughts squeezed inbetween RL
