Let me be the first to welcome you... to the friendliest board this side of Riedquat I'm told...
I hope you soon get to enjoy all those nice OXPs
Cheers Frame...

I have been able to access the wiki over the last few days, it just takes several minutes to bring up a page.
At first I thought that it must be stored locally somwhere in my proxy or browser cache, but the "This page has been accessed 77,937 times" at the bottom gets updated, so the server is generating the page.
Wonder what their problem is....

Server fall over start to smell baaad.
Just occured to me to mention this.

I use the free version because I use a mobile internet connection and it is unreliable.
Basically you can access any page you have accessed while using this proxy, off-line. I have found it very useful and also lately now that the wiki is being difficult - I can still access the links to the OXP's.
You can share the cache between linux and windoze (or whatever, it is java), I have several gig on a usb HDD so I can browse off-line the pages I have seen on my laptop also... Anyway there ya go....
<edit>Sorry, I know that doesn't really address the quoted point, it just reminded me...<edit>

Hey, it's a start
It occurs to me with a bit of image refining there is very little bit bulky about the wiki:
Most of the oxp's reside on the makers web space (that is a bit of an issue in itself, although timely updates of shipyards and redux appear to have put pay to catastrophic oxp loss). Not that I'm saying a library wouldn't be nice but it's not essential.
So it's just really images, text. Sure there's the member tables and histories but if your talking a static snap shot then would we really be talking about that much space?

You can replicate MediaWiki on more than one server, Wikipedia does it after all. Probably the easiest thing is a read-only copy elsewhere and a fairly short DNS TTL on the "wiki.alioth.net" record so the switch takes effect fairly quickly.
In any case, it's up now. Don't know what's up with the physical hardware, looking at the logs - it just quit doing anything.

So… how big is it?
(Note: if I can do anything useful here, it’ll be the week after next at the earliest because of going on holiday tomorrow.)

Yeah I noticed that I was trying to get a replacement password (beacuse I'm a dumb blonde) and it wouldn't send it out. Knowing my luck I've probably got 13 happily nesting in my inbox right now.

I had the same problem yesterday: The wiki was inaccessible for some time, but then it came back on it's own.
Once more I cannot access it at the moment, I just post it here, though, as there seems to be some reliability problem these days.
The error message is "The document contains no data. The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again.".
