That explains the problem. I starts with a hud without the reticle_sensitive, but on launch it switches to a hud that has it build in. It would be easier for other scripts if this equipment was defined for in all huds so it can be seen on startup.
I see. Thanks for that, and thanks to you too, Wildeblood for spotting it.

Concerning the price, is the wiki simply wrong when it states 7500? If so, I'll change it to 1750.

Target Reticle v1.2.1 doesn't seem to work anymore with oolite 1.80.

Which part is not working, as I didn't see anything wrong when playing yesterday. (Using the default HUD and not a custom one)

Right after I'd bought it it didn't appear on the equipment list (F5), though it seemed working. After a couple of jumps it stopped working,
the reticle has never changed. I'm not sure but it could be related to buying the integrated targeting system.

I have started from scratch and bought scanner targeting enhancement and target reticle at Xexedi. Still doesn't work for me.
Now I don't have it listed neither on the installed equipment list nor on the available for sale one. It didn't work for me
right after I bought it. It changed red only once and stopped working again. I'm on linux btw.
Here's the list of all the oxp's I have installed:

Hmm.. nothing in there that should be causing trouble.. can you post your game-save, or give a dropbox or box.com link to it, please?

Here's a link to my oolite-save file at pastebin.com: http://pastebin.com/CuYC316P

I'm not sure what happens. It's not listed on the installed equipment list, but it seems to work sometimes.
Probably <shift>+_ weapon system on/off-line toggle affects the reticle sensitivity.

When I saved it, re-started the game and loaded the file, the reticle started working.
I did a successful jump to Laenin and disabled weapon systems before entering the station.
When I left the station the reticle stopped working again.

And that's the final clue needed to solve this. Thank you for your patience so far.

Here's the problem. Target Reticle OXP works by:
1) Installing the equipment
2) Turning on reticle sensitivity, then setting a mission variable so it gets turned on again when you load a game
3) Removing the equipment (which is why it doesn't appear in your list, presumably so it can't be damaged independently of the scanner targeting enhancement)

A consequence of this is that if your HUD changes, reticle sensitivity gets reset to whatever the default value for your HUD is, and doesn't get turned back on by the OXP until the next time you load your game. This OXP

Code: Select all

/home/vaxon/GNUstep/Library/ApplicationSupport/Oolite/ManagedAddOns/oolite.oxp.spara.market_observer.oxz
does its work on the market screen by rapidly cycling through a range of HUDs, then returning you to your normal HUD.

As a workaround, so long as you always save and reload your game after viewing the F8 screen, you should be able to keep the reticle working. The Market Observer OXP really needs fixing to reload the reticle setting as well as the HUD, however.

Thank you vary much, cim!
Your workaround really helps. Hope the market observer can be fixed soon.
Maybe it's possible to adjust the target reticle oxp so that it wouldn't depend on HUD changes done by the market observer or any other oxp?

Thanks!

Spara is pretty on the ball.. I'm sure he'll be right on it as soon as he sees this.

Now that's debugging! Thanks to all, Market Observer (hopefully) fixed and updated.

(I kind of guess that thread necro is OK in the Expansion Pack forum. If not, sorry.)

God bless you Eric!!!!
Actually, this just caused me some confusion:
If it doesn't show up as equipment, it also doesn't show up as damaged equipment.
I got my [wiki]Scanner Targeting Enhancement[/wiki] damaged. I got it repaired, but then my [wiki]Target Reticle[/wiki] didn't work anymore. It took me a while to figure out that I had to re-purchase it. Especially as it doesn't show up in the menu of most stations.
