What rank comes after 'Elite'?

If you could play 24-7 and get a kill every second you should have started around 1872 to be close to that mark now.Ahruman wrote:Just in case anyone wants to try this in Oolite, you’ll need 4294967296 kills to wrap to 0.Cmdr James wrote:The next objetive is to get the field storing the count to overflow.
If you need to eat and sleep and you can only find an enemy every minute you should probably have started playing some time during the late Upper Paleolithic.

It is well established in the elite universe that elite is the top of the system. I would actually find it quite a shame to add anything else. Maybe "2x Elite" at double the kills, but frankly by the time you reach elite, I think the number of kills speaks for itself and a new title is kind of redundant.
You could add a question at the beginning of the game, just like the question at start of registration for this bb: Are you at least 13 years old? If answered no there is another rank added above Elite, that would be 1337.
There are only 10 types of Jamesons in the Ooniverse. Those who understand binary and those who don't.

Conversely, you could do all the missions in Assassins consecutively, ensuring 100% annihilation of all ships in each system you visit.Dr. Nil wrote:If you could play 24-7 and get a kill every second you should have started around 1872 to be close to that mark now.Ahruman wrote:Just in case anyone wants to try this in Oolite, you’ll need 4294967296 kills to wrap to 0.Cmdr James wrote:The next objetive is to get the field storing the count to overflow.

And what kill rating did that get you?Cmdr Wyvern wrote:If you had a mind to cheat evilly, you could q-bomb the TOGY a couple of times.

It was an experiment at the start of my career mind, while still flying that old Cobby, and well before acquiring the Tiomat.Captain Hesperus wrote:And what kill rating did that get you?Cmdr Wyvern wrote:If you had a mind to cheat evilly, you could q-bomb the TOGY a couple of times.

The rating went from 'Mostly Harmless' to somewhere in the middle of 'Competent' with one well placed mine, and a really big bang.
Unfortunately my experiment sent me into Press Space Commander Land and back to the Academy. Q-bombs are very dangerous toys indeed.
I think I'd rather gain Elite the old-fashioned way by applying excessive laser surgery to pirates.

To answer the question how many people actually are Elite: My commander is close to the 10000 now (right now 9698, to be precise). And he is just making his first experiments with the cloaking device (which is going to cost him a couple of kills, of course). Hasn't been in Galaxy 5 for long (just finished Deposed), so the whole fun of Assassins is still waiting for him (and I guess not only this is going to add to his killcount, but also the two galaxies he still needs to cover to even get there (I'm counting Galaxy 5 as "yet to explore", because he hasn't really spent any noticable time in it)).

Fancy some bounty hunting?
Galaxy 5 is full of Anarchies and Feudal states. Add Random Hits to the mix, and your go at scumbag whacking is pretty much made.
As for the cloaking device, I programmed a button on my joystick to toggle it on and off. Yay for joystick software! When things get too hot, I can cloak up with the press of a button, then decloak, shoot down a hostile, and cloak back up before the others start shooting back. Space ninja, hehe.
