OK, We get the idea - no escort missions. :)

I couldn't recall many missions of the type in the earlier games I'd played, I guess I was just lucky. Either that or my mind (what's left of it) had blanked out all memory of their awfullness.

I've still got some work to do understanding shipbuilding yet, maybe I'll ask around for ideas when I'm ready to write a mission.

Anyhows it's all LittleBears fault with his Renegades getting me started in the first place :D

I have been tinkering with an idea. I don't know if its possible within the limits of the game, and I have no idea how to do it myself so it would have to be down to an expert here!

Firstly is it possible to temporarily change your ship? And is it possible to dock with the Thargoid carrier? As these may affect the idea from the start.

I was thinking something along the lines of the Navy getting wind of a group of Thargoid carriers entering a system, however they have managed to capture a Thargoid ship. They give you the job of piloting the ship to each of the carriers to drop some sort of bomb in each.

I didn't really get much further than that as I fell asleep! Maybe it wouldn't be bombs? Maybe it would only be one carrier? Maybe if you cant dock with the carrier the 'undercover' job could be to do something else? Fly into a war zones to attack the Thargoids?

What do you think?

Nope.

You could though explain it by having some item of Navy Equipment fitted (some sort of holo-projector / fake ID transponder), that makes your ship look to the Bugs like its a Thargoid ship.

Yes....maybe a top secret device? Sometimes prone to failing making it a bit more random if you can get away with it?

I had a similar idea a way back that you could fool thargoids into thinking you were a thargoid but you risked being attacked by non thargoids. I suppose you could run the same ploy for pirates.

In the current version of the Thargoid Carrier yes (everything with a docking bay is dockable). In the upcoming version not anymore, because the player will be launched again immediatly; although unfortunately we can't prevent the carrier from warmly welcoming the player if he uses his docking computer.
