Well, since you ask… the current trunk is numbered 1.70, to keep it distinct from the 1.70-maintenance branch which is currently numbered 1.70.1. These numbers are preliminary, since no release with either number has been made.

eek yikes! I'd forgotten the pain of bug fixing one release whilst developing features in another branch...

Fortunately for us (but not everyone else), 1.70.1 isn’t going to happen so we can ignore that. :-)
