...I think there's been a few of us saying that for a while!!
Oolite Online will be a more likely occurance than Elite IV.

So will the next Ice Age....

from eliteforums :
"The next-gen version of the Elite franchise will be released after The Outsider is released. The Outsider has no solid release date but is slated for 2008. So we don't expect to see Elite until 2010. "

   ...so that is definitely one for, "Don't hold your breath!!"

(In my case it could well be that I will have reached my pensionable age (2012) before Elite 4, sorry, ELITE IV, finally emerges!!)

I think most of us will be in the Tionisla Orbital Graveyard before then.

I have to add, I'm just loving the Asterioids OXP.

I suck up all the metal fragments scattered around the Leesti space station, and then dock and flog them all!

A very satisfying, and clean way of making a load of dough, very quickly! :D

sadly, i lost all interest in Elite 4 a few years ago. go sick of all the waiting and promises and teasing, then finding Braben had decided to do stuff like rollercoaster tycoon instead. there's some stonking russian space sims etc out there now, not to mention the X series ~ Braben's REALLY going to have to pull something out in order for it not to be *the* greatest anticlimax in gaming history.

Could we have the ability to change the black space colour to other dark colours such as like in this crappily mocked up screen shot:-
Image
it kind of makes ships a bit more visible (especially in the shadowed areas), or would this cause lots of weirdness with the colour blending of lasers, explosions, exhaust trails etc?

You wouldn't say that if you knew about the reaction to FE2/FFE's blue space. It was so disliked that some people even made patches to fix the "bug"... Until Jonh Jordan added a menu to choose the colour from light blue to black!

WB Cmdr.Maegil, hope all is well.

Personally I would like to be able to choose a variation of the background colour, some ships would show up much better with a lighter background, and some less, it would be good to be able to toggle in game.

Yo, mate!
Hope you kids didn't worried too much for my welfare... i had a severe bout of RL(TM) that is if not completely solved, at least half-fell into complacency 8)

Cheers, and a rum caipirinha for ya all!

Welcome back, Maegil, glad to hear from you again. It's a sure sign that your current abode isn't the bottom of the Deep Blue/Green* Briney. Besides, it's been really quiet since you went....

Can anyone explain why I can't find an "extra energy cell" for sale at any space station? Even over-8 tech ones...?

The Extra Energy Unit (EEU) is not an 'extra cell', more an enhancement that improves your ship's energy recharge rate. If your ship is fitted with one or, indeed with a Naval Energy Unit (NEU), then the option to buy an EEU will not be available.
