Oops sorry. Odd about the space comp. though as it seems ok on the version of 1.68 I have installed. I seem to remember on the PC the key to cycle it changed so it now # (at least on a UK keyboard). Working on my system, but perhaps its a different key on a non-Uk keyboard.

As to Military Shields being too powerful, that depends on the OXPs you have installed. Bung a few ship or mission OXPs and you may find yourself blessing those shields enhancements!

Both # and \ appear to work on my UK keyboard...

You will need them with some of the OXP missions, Assassins in particular, and also some of the OXP ships are real brutes. It's early days yet.

Also, I have just noticed that my kill count mysteriously rose to 591. Before I attacked the Constrictor, I had something around 380 or so. Did I get 200 kills for one Constrictor???

Yeah in original BBC B Elite, the Constrictor Mission trigged when you'd made competent twice over and you automatically became Dangerous (if you weren't already) for killing the Constrictor. Giles implemented this feature in Oolite.

The reward for this mission is kills, as per the original versions, and it just so happens that it takes your rating up to Dangerous.

And it's precisely 256 kills.
