Good idea! I hadn't noticed that yet. (Not even the launching time, only the 20 minutes for auto-docking. (Oh, and the endless hours and hours it takes to buy and install a Q-mine--these things seem to be rather tricky to get into their missile slots!))

Well, you don't want one of those things going off inside the station, do you.

Hmm, there's an idea for an OXP....

Well the nearest to it I guess is the Nova experience.

Don't even know whether the engine would allow for anything to explode while you are docked. The question would be: Do AIs do anything as long as the player is docked, or are they asleep during that time?

Anyway, a single Q-bomb would not be sufficient to blow up a station. At least fired from the outside it does nothing to it. Not even start a cascade with all the Q-bombs stored in the equipment department.

But another idea: I have to check what happens when the "blowUpStation"-method is used while you still are docked. That could be a nice surprise in an OXP.

The game world runs pretty much as usual while you’re docked. If the thing you’re docked in is destroyed, I believe you get ejected.
