any Asp: Titter, in memory of Cleopatra
You know those who, having been mugged and stabbed, fired, dog run over, house burned down, wife eloped with best friend, daughters becoming prostitutes and their countries invaded - still say that "all is well"?
I'm obviously not one of them.

You still dont forgive me for dobbing you in to Jack Hamilton do you? :D

@TGHC - Ferdie, Space Tree, it's all the same thing. With occupational-jargon, a single thing can have multiple names. I'm a student nurse and I know several things that have lots of names and lots of abreviations that have new and interesting meaning depending on the specialisation.

Jinker - In the first instance, a pilot adept at evasion tactics or a crewman who can avoid unpleasant work details or trouble.

Jinking - Avoiding incoming laser fire in combat or the act of evading the Commander when he's angry.

Jinky - to be an expert at the above, i.e. 'That Stepan is really jinky for getting out of that midnight watch.'

Lawl what great crap comes out of the woodwork xD.

Heres a couple

Vacum eater- someone who cant make it to an escape pod in time
Sputter- that crap that comes out of engines when they get knocked round quite a bit
'Goided- also refers to bug crap. Basically you got owned by a bunch of bugs. You noob.

And one i love from Vendetta Online. Check it out sometime. Very good.

Pie-Rat- Those annoying pirate underlings that generally, well, annoy people. Also have a habit of stealing Pie from your ship when your not looking. Pie can also refer to cargo, as cargo is good, and so is Pie

Zoot suit - flight suit, overalls.

Skin suit - EVA suit.

Slick suit - Shore leave attire, can be anything from formal/informal clothes to undress uniforms (for GalNavy personnel)

Shell suit - Like an EVA suit but with added armour and radiation protection for working in hazardous conditions. Also a shapeless and gaudily coloured jogging suit worn while exercising.

Backyarder - Gecko, due in part to the fact that many are built by Modders

Modder - Also Backyard Techs, Junk Spacers. Any of the numerous independant ship constructors responsible for ships like the Gecko.

No-mates - Krait, due to it's single pilot configuration.

Spacer - generic term for a person who lives a predominantly spacebound existence, opposite to a planetbound existence. <EDIT>(attrib. Robert Holdstock) (Sorry A_H, your immortality has been curtailed slightly....)

Commander Muddyboots - also C. Dirteater, C.Groundhugger, derogatory term for a pilot who spent most of their life living on a planet and have taken to the spacelanes, either seriously or simply to say 'been there, done that'. These names are often the cause of fights, both in space station bars and in the spacelanes themselves.

One-Pip Wonder - derogatory term for a Harmless rated pilot, especially one who is apt to tell tall stories.

Shark-boat - Python Class Cruiser, due to the popular shark-mouth paint scheme.

Uber-Cobra - SuperCobra.

Big Butt - Boa.

Anything with 'dirt' or 'mud' are derogatory terms for planetdwellers or spacers that still think in terms of two degrees of freedom.
As opposed to acclimatised spacers that think movement in 3 or 4 dimensions.

It opens up a whole vista of insults:
"Hey there, Commander Mudbuddy!"
"Watch it, Dirt-shifter!"
"Get that hunk o' crap off my scanners, planet lover!"

Some more nicknames:

Pointy - Krait.

Racer V - Viper Interceptor or Viper Mk II.

Racer Pointy - Mamba.

Wedge - Gecko.

Speedbump - A description for a ship that appears on the edge of your scanner and mass-locks you out of Hyperspeed, then disappears off your scanner.
