Thanks guys, I was thinking of creating a ECM hardened (100%) missile which was a little bit slower than the standard one, but with a lot of power. You could run away if your ship was fast enough or shoot it down.
Is it possible to show a different colour on the scanner for a missile, so the player would know what he had to deal with?

Seriously though, CaptKev, good work. One missile I'd be interested in would be a 'fast burn' missile equipped with a WFI, but, as a disadvantage, with a much shorter range than normal. Imagine, that irritating little FdL keeps doing the 'WFI fly-by shoot-up' tactic, so you wait til he gets close and launch a fast-burn Hardhead as he comes in. Seconds later, he's a rapidly expanding cloud of cargo pods and debris

with the emphasis on "cargo pods" you'd hope - no doubtCap'n H wrote:Seconds later, he's a rapidly expanding cloud of cargo pods and debris
Don't/won't the bad guys get the missile too - that'd give the Dubious P a bad hair day moment for sure!

Pah! If you carry a few tonnes of Food, you can use it as chaff. I'd rather lose 3.4-8.5Cr than 1000Cr of Escape Pod.DaddyHoggy wrote:Don't/won't the bad guys get the missile too - that'd give the Dubious P a bad hair day moment for sure!

Can you? Does that work - when I've dumped cargo in the past it has always disappeared - I thought that was to stop you picking it back up once you realised that the pod you dropped was worth more than the "as yet unknown" one you'd just picked up...Cap'n H wrote:If you carry a few tonnes of Food, you can use it as chaff.
May be it doesn't disappear but is just scooped by other ships when I'm not looking

You can use my impression without any permission (it is the last picture). I wrote it above "Privateer" & "Freespace"
I'm a artist since years ago. Look for example at horusgames.de, search for dellanium, Mechsim, and a lot of other projects and games.

Sorry, yes it is. I'm not noted for my sense of humour. Or my ability to buy a round of drinks. Or my ability to open my wallet unless coerced at gunpoint. Or my ability to manually dock without leaving a Python-shaped smear along the docking port walls. And so on.Sung wrote:is this a joke ?

I've not played FEII or Encounters, but I believe that they have a much greater variety of missiles with differing capabilities. The introduction of ECM hardened missiles and Quirium mines in oolite was a major step forward, but there is surely potential for more variety, not only in peformance, but visually as well. As far as appearance is concerned surely anything goes, fins etc are useful in atmospheres, but in the vacuam of space, are obsolete. There is perhaps a case for armour penetration, so copperheaded nosecones and the like may be desirable.
