Would it be ok if the 'leading-shot' aimRaid was only fitted on plasma cannon?

That leading reticule made long range sniping too easy - line it up and toast that sucker. Almost took the skill out of making long range kills. But I don't think it helped much in close dogfights; you only have a second or two to shoot your opponent per lineup when he's dancing all over the place to evade your fire. And at close ranges, a lead isn't really needed anyhow.

A simular "fishfinder" device, sans the lead reticule, would be great, methinks. :)

Yeah, plasma is generally useless at long range anyhow, unless the target is flying in a straight line. (Which they don't if they are shot at!)

At close range you just try to get as close as possible and paint the enemy hull. but then the red glow obscures the target after a few hits.

verdict: useless.
there should be a way to fix this nice weapontype. :(

As your primary combat weapon, plasma guns are a fabulous flop. Too weak, too slow, too short ranged, and not very accurate.
I stick to lasers as the serious battle gun, and use plasmas only in a defencive role, ie, shaking hardhead missiles and scaring persistant tailgaters off my ass.

There should be multiple versions:

-flak version (eg-the current one), maybe with a nice flashy exposion at a range of 500m or so. fast firing rate.

-Naval plasma: A more powerfull cannon, very powerfull, normal heat, high energy drain. slow cycling rate.

Would it be better to have the laser flash instead of the rosy glow?
