Dajt;

I sent aegidian my stderr and gamesave file- I had a problem with the 1.65 final exe where I was not able to access the "ships for sale" screen at some of the stations. Aegidian sent me a post telling me he'd forwarded the info to you.

Anyways, I downloaded the most recent exe, and while all of the planet textures are intact, I'm still unable to access the "ships for sale" screen at Bixien (sp?) in galaxy 3.

I'll try it all out again soon with a new character on the off chance that the old game save has any corrupt data related to the previous exe's.

I didn't change anything I can think of that would affect this function. My only suggestion is to go back to the "official" 1.65 exe, load your game, and see if it happens there. The "official" 1.65 exe and the textured planet exes are completely interchangeable and have no different information in the save file so you won't lose anything.

I couldn't reproduce the problem. I suspect it may be caused by an OXP (see threads elsewhere).

I think it is an OXP problem, because I couldn't access the ship screen on one of the planets in galaxy 2 -- which just so happened to be a planet I'd changed the planetinfo.plist for. All the other planets are fine. I'm on my way to the Ionics planet to see if I can buy from there....I'll let you know.........I would have got there last night, but I got killed by a lousy Cobra Courier, this was after I'd filled my cargo bay from a fight in Witchspace.

You can have a block colour for the "water" but I haven't done that as I don't think it would look as good. Aside from that what you describe is how it works now.

I've installed the new experimental PC version but I'm having some serious problems with it.

Since I want to see about getting my containers OXP to work, I need to buy a ship with some trading space as my Firewasp has no cargo bay. So I buy a Cobra Mk3. Hitting F1 to launch - which launches in my Firewasp - instead brings up a view of the inside of the space station. I hit V, then F1 again and launch. If I then re-dock, hitting V has no effect, and hitting F1 generally just brings up a blank view.

Am I doing something wrong, here, or missing some point I should have picked up?

You don't have to do anything special to get it working. What hardware do you have? Perhaps you just ran out of video memory which I think will be a bit of a problem for some older cards.

When I try to install the new version, I get this message:

oolite.exe - Unable to locate component
This application has failed to start because SDL.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

I tried uninstalling Oolite, but it didn't make any different. What am I doing wrong and what do I need to do?

had same problem. IIRC, you must put the new .exe in the oolite.app folder

Cheers Panzerboy! Works fine now.

Whilst this runs fine (and looks great!), it messes up the screen resolution. I'm running at 1920x1200, and the top 100-150 pixels are missing off the top of the screen. I do have most of the available oxps installed.

I can't see how that could be caused by the textured planets. That code doesn't have anything to do with setting screen res, display surfaces, etc.

I'll try re-instating the oxp tonight then, but, whilst I did add a few other oxps in when I first copied the new exe over, replacing the exe with the original made the problem go away.

I'll let you know what happens.

Well, I downloaded the tp5 pack once more, and copied the oolite.exe file into the oolite.app folder (along with the plist file), and start up oolite, and the screen res is all out of wack. Swap the exes back over, and it's fine again. Any ideas?

The textured planets change is has a very small footprint in the Oolite code, and it is only to do with the texture image generated for planets so I really can't see how it might affect the overall graphics code.

Could be there were some other, unrelated, changed made to MyOpenGLView.m that are causing it, but then everyone would be complaining.

What happens if you run at a more mainstream resolution? Or perhaps if you turn the textured planets off, but use the tp5 exe? You can switch them off in the planetinfo.plist file. The readme that came with the exe should say how to do it.
