Just what I wanted *evil laugh*. It is not applicable to other ships? Or player ships?

sure, just change the weapon-type into a thargoid laser in the shipdata.plist.
for playerships you'd need to award it as EQ_THARGOID_LASER or something.
It's available in the shipyard, but a little techlevel change in the equipment.plist would chance that.
please don't though.

What, don't give Opus Chaotica a Thargoid Laser?
When Player-owned, would it still do what them Thargoids do?
Would it still just shoot at my selected target or whatever? Or would it just go poof.
and how EEEEEEXACTLY do i convert .obj to .dat on a Win XP Obj2DatTex.py?

Kriken Overlord wrote:Good. I love Bab 5 and my goal was for something shadow-esque. I have a queeeeeeeestion: How do thargoids shoot in 'all directions'. They seem to be able to shoot me no matter the facing; Regard, could this be applied to Dark Orion ships?
Yes, you can do this (sort of). In the shipdata.plist use:
Code: Select all
<key>forward_weapon_type</key>
<string>WEAPON_THARGOID_LASER</string>
You can also change the laser beam color:
Code: Select all
<key>laser_color</key>
<string>whiteColor</string>

Oooo, I knew about the color thing. So a player ship with a Tharg laser would not have to aim so much? explain. I mean, will it just shoot straight
---------#
Or go at my target?

I don't think it works on a player ship, only on an NPC ship.

You need to convert your .obj to .dat.
I had similar difficulty when I built my first ship, but once you know how it's easy. Anyway take a look at this thread
https://bb.oolite.space/viewtopic.php?t= ... c&start=15 for the help you need.

I'm back from the dead...
I can't find the model for the Opus Chaotica, or the Hona.
Not much of a loss, though.
Expect the Opus Chaotica someday.
And expect it to hurt.

Laaaast but not least, the Opus Chaotica:
Musings:
Is it possible in Oolite to design a "ship" which changes shape all the time - a roiling bundle of chaos, so to speak?

There are hints that it works:
-
viewtopic.php?p=276754#p276754
- The
Imperial Courier has constantly rotating somethings (is it the engines?)

Isn't Thargoid's butterflies with flapping wings the biggest step in that direction?
