This was a good thread. Everyone made thoughtful replies of good length. My reply was the weakest of the lot; in my defence, it was just to get the ball rolling, and I had intended to return and offer a more serious response.

Thank you Cholmondely, for reminding me about that. There's no beans to spill, it was just a thought about HUD aesthetics, nothing revolutionary.
