I like it when that happens

Ive been having a problem where as I go from station to station my max speed seems to increase with each docking/launch until it becomes so fast(even at launch speed) that I crash into the docking buoy when exiting the station without having time to dodge.
My torus drive speed is so fast that as I masslock it takes to long to slow down that I have already passed the other ships and they have gone off radar and I can engage my torus drive again. slowing down for the station takes so long and Im going so fast that I have to start looping so I don't over fly the station.
I didn't say anything at first because Its quite nice not having to really worry about the masslocks
but it does become hard to not crash and reloading because of a crash is annoying. Im using a lot of oxps but I think masslock compensator is the only one that effects the speed(probably not getting on well with one of the other oxps though)

Hi Grindalf and thanks for the report.

So, it becomes apparent each time you launch?
Are you also using
Power to Engines? There was a bug (now fixed in the latest version) that could, under certain conditions, ramp up the player speed unchecked. If so, I suggest you download v 1.1 and report back.

Are you using
Equipment by Ship Class? That one requires quite a bit of work and I should probably remove it from the download manager in its current state.
Having said that if there are many oxps at play then almost anything could be happening. How about Ship Configuration? Do you have that one installed?
Masslock Compensator is in the process of an update to make it play better alongside Power to Engines et. al. and all seems to be good so far. Needs more testing before I can release it though.

towbar
synchronised torus
variable masslock
These three could possibly cause a conflict (first one unlikely, last one likely). Variable Masslock should be uneccessary with masslock compensators installed IMHO - just choose one or the other (MLC = faster speed when masslocked; VM = smaller radius of some masslocks).
Having said that, I can't see how it would cause the spped issue that you are having. I'll review my code and do some more testing.
Thanks again.

I will remove them one at a time(starting with variable masslock) and let you know what happens

Quick test with log entries to make sure...
Unable to replicate the problem so far.
Can you please confirm which version of the oxp you are using? (e.g. v 1.2).

removing variable masslock had no effect. by the third system I visit im flying past everything so fast I have no chance to see what Im passing(I like to look out the side windows and watch the cruise ships ect fly by) I don't have chance to check theoxp version at the moment but I will check it later after work and let you know(and remove another of that list and see what happens) on the plus side my Adder can out run pirates with no problems at all XD

OK, I've had a proper look at the code and reviewd your oxp list and I think I have it.
I think it's to do with the following oxps that all generate additional stations or dockable ships.
tionisla orbital graveyard
behemoth
darkside moonshine distillery
deep space dredger
free trade zone
hoopy casino
imperial astrofactory
lave academy
planetfall
superhub
tionisla chronicle array
spicy hermits
liners
...and possibly a few others
Could you please confirm if it gets worse when you dock at any of the above stations but not (i.e. remains just as bad) when you dock at a main station?
Easiest way to test is to try an 'Easy Start' in tionisla, dock and re-dock a few times before heading to the graveyard or array and then trying the same again.
Good news is if it is only happening when you dock in a non-main station then there is a very easy fix

I will try docking at some other things later but just so you know I haven't docked at anything other than normal stations for days now and its been going super fast every time I play. But I will let you know what happens. I will also start removing those(one by one) as I never interact with them anyway.

Before you do...
I have a plan B that should fix things almost regardless of where the speed boost is coming from.
Testing it now, so it could be ready within a few hours.

New version: 1.3 now available for download.
Grindalf, please give this one a try.
2 changes that might help:
- Removed instances of treating planet like a star (planets are more problematitc due to proximity to main station)
- Insurance check immediately prior to docking, resets player max speed before bonuses are recalculated prior to launch

nope no change, I still keep increasing in speed after each docking(and Ive only been docking at regular Corialis stations) I suppose it could be any of the mods that are doing it. Im going to remove all but a few(masslock compensator, dangerous hud, adder start) and once I have things working normally again I will start reinstalling mods

I haven't tried this OXP yet, so my opinion below is uninformed.
I've considered making the minimum value 250 rather than 300 but those viper interceptors are awfully fast...
I think that's an argument in favour of reducing the minimum value. The Viper Interceptor is supposed to be a high tech police ship. It makes sense to me that a slower ship without fuel injectors could not overtake them. The player can always turn 90 degrees away from their heading and then gradually turn back after resuming the torus drive.

To reitterate: the player can only overtake them in yellow alert (i.e. outside of combat). Under such circumstances the interceptors might only be cruising (on patrol) whereas the player has a destination (and possibly a deadline to catch). If that patrol has them headed in the direction of the station then you could be behind them for a very long time...
There is another explanation of how one might wish to rationalise the speed bonus upthread. Whichever one you might favour it is important that it exists for the player or one may as well forget this oxp and adopt the strategy that you suggest.
In short: for anyone who finds the length of time spent in masslock not to be a problem for them, I would suggest not installing this oxp.
