At what point did the heavies throw you out?

Very cool oxp. It's amazing what you can do with Oolite.

that is very surprising. early on there was a bug that did this but Giles mended it and I never experienced that kind of error since.
and I can't think of any reason why the legal status should be changed during a visit. please report if this repeats..
re what some may have noticed about the commoditiy market, I'll try to fix it when I can. the intention was to have available tiny amounts of fur or liquor, gold and gems, but I haven't quite learned sculpt that function yet..

I like the Hoopy Commodity Market. The prices and quantities are so unpredictable that taking cargo there is a bit of a gamble...

The Casino is only an early incarnation of it's potential glory
OXP don Murgh has plans afoot!
Possbile bugs and suggestions

Looks like there is a problem with randomness, the left one is always the correct choice.
And - in the same system the Casino is sometimes there and sometimes not.
Two suggestions:
a) you should be banned there forever if you destroy it
b) it should not rerappear instantly in that case

Randomness works fine on Macs.

Could the Wintel random number generator be at fault? The early days of computing, especially computer simulations, were plagued by a series of truly awful random number generators. Basically they were very far from random.
(And yes, I do realize there is no such thing as a "truly random" random number generator - it's just that some are more "random-like" than others.)

Most of the randomness in Oolite is provided by a faithful recreation of one of those awful homebrew random number generators, namely the one used in Elite. This is obviously necessary for stuff like system layout and name generation, but is also used in other places, including d100_number, which is used by the casino OXP.
This random number generator is reseeded in various places, sometimes using the date, sometimes using system-specific paramters. It may be a good idea to use two copies of the random generator functions, one for “true” random events and one for repeatable noise, to avoid using the wrong seed by mistake.
Even so, always being the leftmost cup is a very strange result. Being the same mixed sequence all the time would make more sense. Please try a long gambling sequence, at least ten attempts, in a few different systems to confirm that it’s really happening.

reasonable ideas, but not so easy.
a) the problem is that there is no way to guarantee the ownership of a kill.. you wouldn't want to get banned for somebody else's villainy.
b) I think a way of doing this should be possible once I get my brain back to its sharpest.
too bad the PC version is rigged. downer..

There are more missions that could use a 'DeathActionsKilledByPlayer' kind of thing, like Military.oxp, now the cops did half the work for me, grin.

The left cup always being the winner is also showing up on Linux for me as well. It lets me try about 3 times then I get booted.
I guess the pit boss thinks I'm cheating.
Where can I get this oxp?

I've checked Oosat and Oosat2 nothing namewise obviously shows itself to be the hoopy casino oxp - has it been pulled due to the bugs some reported on this thread? If yes, will it ever make a reappearance?

Oosat2 crashed in October 06 and this is one of the many OXP that have not (yet) been re-submitted.
