Haven't checked the kleptohud yet, but played around with the "dashboard" of my original design.

Worth developing further and releasing?

Myself, I'm especially happy with the slightly transparent image of the ship to the left, but I'm not sure if anyone else will think of it as cool... (easy to replace the current image (Cobra Courier) with almost any other ship)

develop it, release it... and do it fast :P

it looks quite hot. U should do a series ;)

wonder if it wouldn't look even better if the blue grid was slightly more transparent..

Good point, Murgh. I changed it a little for the released version, but I must also say that the image above looks worse than it really was because of the resizing...

Still, the new version of the HUD is available at Oosat2 (http://oosat.alioth.net/node/50) and the package also includes a version for the standard Cobra Mk 3 - read the description to learn how it can be made to appear in the game if you do not already know:

Unfortunately, I did not manage to get a better looking render of the standard Cobra... In fact, in order to make this HUD available for some other ships, I'd basically need some nice looking renders of the ships from above - I don't have the models for Wings (the ones at Oosat do not include the textures) so I cannot make them myself...

All the models are available from the Asset Source folder in GUSTO. The textures are inside the Oolite application bundle under Mac OS X, and equivalent directory structures on the other platforms. (For OS X, control-click the Oolite application and select Show Package Contents; they’re in Resources/Textures. For Windows, it’s something like C:\Program Files\Oolite\oolite.app\Contents\Resources\Textures. For Linux, it should be much the same, only it obviously won’t be in C:\Program Files\.) If you can’t find them, they’re also in the source tree. There are also the various Python tools like Mesh2Obj (to convert Meshwork models to OBJ).

Possibly a new release of the Python tools and the currently-used models would be useful?

Hmm... There wouldn't be a simple python script to convert .dat back to .obj? I haven't seen one, but if it was easy enough to make for some local expert...

I have really no idea how to join an existing mesh model with a existing texture, unless they already come in a single package. And I'm using WinXP, by the way...

No, but there’s Dat2Mesh and Mesh2Obj.

…Which, on further investigation, don’t seem to actually work. They do, however, expose a bug in Dry Dock when trying to open an OBJ with no faces. Lucky me, eh?

I don’t know anything about Python. However, this does raise the priority of a command-line version of Dry Dock a bit.

I try to get kleptohud, but this links seems invalid - "Page not found". Where i can download latest version.
Version that i have has bug - HUD and cross-chair always visible on screen (not only while flying, but in any menu).
I use Gentoo Linux and Oolite 1.65.

I think that all HUDs are visible on any screen? It's just that the KleptoHUD has graphics (the sight) in the middle of the screen. Or maybe it's just because the version I tried was the same bugged version as you got (using v.1.65 + WinXP).

The page not found is because Oosat2 has been down. For info about Winston's revival of Oosat2 read here: https://bb.oolite.space/viewtopic.php?t=2522

Where can I get hold of this superb HUD - the links to the OOsat site don't work?

Many thanks.

Oosat suffered a serious crash last month and Winston is still rebuilding it.

The new link to Oosat is:-

http://oosat.alioth.net

Only a few OXPs are up at the moment. It will probabley be a few weeks before they are all back up again.

Just replace oosat.alioth.net on to oldsat.alioth.net.

I use Linux version 1.65. Sight always on screen, it annoying me.

That's the problem with KleptoHUD. Just try one of my HUDs instead...
