OK, so the 'smivsgun' issue does seem to be related to TG4 - In the version for Smivs' replace shipset I seem to have missed the hyphen and as there is no smivsgun defined anywhere this is causing log errors :oops:
One solution would be to open the shipdata-overides.plist in a text editor and use the 'replace' function to replace 'smivsgun' with 'smivs-gun'. However TG4 does not affect the player Cobra 3 at all and so this probably does not explain the missing player ship gun. As I mentioned I cannot reproduce this. The gun is present for me.
It is worth trying the TG4 fix - either remove TG4 completely or fix the shipdata-overides.plist, and see if this has any effect, and we'll take it from there.

There is a 'smivsgun' subentity definition in Clippers 1.3.2.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh! :shock:

Ha, OK, thanks. So this means that anybody using Clippers and TG4 and my shipset together should be OK, but those using just TG4 with the shipset will be getting the log errors. TBH this is not a major problem, and as you will have seen further up this thread, none of these OXPs will escape attention when I sort out the upgrade to OXZ, so I'm minded to leave things for now.
It would be nice to sort out BBD's missing gun though - I'm still not sure how this is causing the player gun to be absent, so further poking around is needed. :D

Hi there

Smivs'shipset-SD-4.2-addition and battle damage(for smivses) 1.2. Only other ships are the Alien package. Its all new install. I'll drop the BD pack out and see if that does anything.

It's the 1.77 oolite btw. My poor little netbook can't handle the uber oolite sadly :(

That's the culprit! BattleDamage has the (erronous) smivsgun without the hyphen. Go to line 706 in the BattleDamage shipdata-overides.plist and change (add the hyphen) to 'smivsgun' so the line reads

Code: Select all

"smivs-gun   0 -0.5 32 1 0 1 0"
and that should sort it out.
Apologies for the problem, and thanks to everybody who has helped track this down. I'll post the solution in the BattleDamage thread as well.

Back to topic! I have started to sort out the first tranche and have immediately hit a problem.
I started with Aliens as I had already converted this a while ago. I ammended the download link to

Code: Select all

http://wiki.alioth.net/img_auth.php/f/f3/Aliens_v1.1.oxz
in the manifest.plist and uploaded the file to the wiki, and then entered the details in the Expansions Manager on oolite.org. I have not yet added the counter code to the OXP's wiki entry.
The OXZ is showing as available in the game expansion manager, but when selected it fails to download. The screen says "Download failed! See Latest.Log for more details. [other stuff]". The log contains the following...

Code: Select all

07:27:19.909 [oxz.manager.error]: Downloaded OXZ does not contain a manifest.plist, has been left in /home/smivs/GNUstep/Library/Caches/org.aegidian.oolite/Oolite-download.oxz
When I go to the Caches folder, there is the Oolite-download.oxz file which seems to be an HTML file telling me access is denied (?) and the Oolite-manifests.plist which lists the OXZ correctly.
As far as I can see the details in the Expansion Manager are correct and it shows the correct manifest.plist at the bottom of the page.
I'm a bit baffled :? and frankly haven't got a clue what's going on or going wrong.
Help!

http://wiki.alioth.net/img_auth.php/f/f ... s_v1.1.oxz does give an access denied page if you go there directly, so everything else makes sense from that point...

Ah OK (still baffled!).
I was following the instructions here so assumed that was right. Sorry for being dim, but what should I do?

Edited to add:- I've checked the permissions for the oxz folder. Owner is set to read/write, Group and Others are read only. I think that is correct, yes?

Edit No 2:- I have now added the download link to the wiki and that seems to work - I successfully downloaded the .oxz folder to the desktop, and it seems to be complete. However when manually moved into the AddOns folder it does not load - a warning states that it does not have a valid manifest.plist. More investigation needed...

Edit No 3:- I can't see anything wrong with the manifest.plist

Code: Select all

{
        "identifier" = "oolite.oxp.smivs.aliens";
        "required_oolite_version" = "1.79";
        "title" = "Aliens";
        "version" = "1.1";
        "category" = "Ambience";
        "description" = "Adds mysterious and unknown Alien ships to the Ooniverse.";
        "download_url" = "http://wiki.alioth.net/img_auth.php/f/f3/Aliens_v1.1.oxz";
        "author" = "Smivs";
        "information_url" = "http://www.smivsonline.co.uk/oolite.htm#Aliens";
        "license" = "CC-BY-NC-SA 3.0";
        "tags" = ( "ships", "aliens" );
}
What am I missing?

Code: Select all

cim@ravenskull:/tmp$ unzip -l Aliens_v1.1.oxz
Archive:  Aliens_v1.1.oxz
  Length      Date    Time    Name
---------  ---------- -----   ----
        0  2014-05-31 10:43   Aliens_v1.1/
     6506  2013-02-04 19:48   Aliens_v1.1/Aliens_readme.rtf
      541  2014-05-31 10:43   Aliens_v1.1/manifest.plist
[...]
  5373127  2013-02-03 10:19   Aliens_v1.1/Textures/scorpax_alert_diffuse.png
---------                     -------
 25654636                     39 files
Everything's a level too far down - this should be

Code: Select all

cim@ravenskull:/tmp$ unzip -l Aliens_v1.1.oxz
Archive:  Aliens_v1.1.oxz
  Length      Date    Time    Name
---------  ---------- -----   ----
     6506  2013-02-04 19:48   Aliens_readme.rtf
      541  2014-05-31 10:43   manifest.plist
[...]
  5373127  2013-02-03 10:19   Textures/scorpax_alert_diffuse.png
---------                     -------
 25654636                     38 files
You should just be able to unzip and rezip from within the Aliens_v1.1 folder to fix that.

:shock:
I thought that is what I had done!
I have a folder named Aliens_v1.1 which contains the manifest.plist, the readme and the folders for Config, Textures etc.
Image
This is zipped and re-named Aliens_v1.1.oxz. Is this not right?

What you've done is zip the folder into a zip file; what you need to do is zip the contents of the folder into a zip file.

From the command line: cd ~/oolite_oxzs/Aliens_v1.1 ; zip -9r Aliens_v1.1.oxz * - exactly what you need to do in a GUI zip program will vary.
