I just had a CTD, as the hyperspace count hit zero (on the final jump of a parcel run too). Probably irrelevant, but this was in the stderr.txt:

<chortles> Again! On the final jump... again! Oolite simply does not want me to deliver that parcel.
Jumped by assassins, by bandits, by Thargoid warships... and by the game itself! Hey-ho!

The stderr.txt is just a message from the sound library complaining about not being shut down properly. Given there was a CTD, it's slightly surprising it had time. I assume nothing out of the ordinary in the last couple of lines of Latest.log, then.

If you go to F7 and look at your target system, does the planet generate and display without crashing? If so, is there anything 'odd' about its appearance?

No problems on F7 (either with or without Povray Planets) - and no, nothing in the log.

As an aside, I run parcel contracts under 'ironman rules' (no saving en route), which is why the CTD's have been so painful.

What happens if you go there without a parcel contract? I can't see how that would make a difference, though.

Actually, I wonder if it might be an accumulating thing, then. If you do save in the penultimate system, close Oolite, reload the game, does it still crash?

<grins> I'll try that later, Admiral - after dinner. Strange thing is, I had no CTDs at all yesterday (I'm still running the same nightly build).

Edit to add: first run, parcel onboard, Oolite crashed at zero on the very first jump.
Second run went without a hitch - parcel delivered (at last). So no help there, I'm afraid.

The launching-then-docking ships seem more common now, btw - just about every station.

Oh, another thing to try with the artifacts: do they still appear (at any/all graphics settings) if you install a planet texture pack? (Try both a cube-map one like Povray and a latlong one like System Redux, please)
Ok.. I got this one figured out, finally.. it's being caused by Orbits 1.2.1.OXP. I guess the latest changes slightly broke compatibility with Orbits, because it had been working fine earlier. I've added it to my slowly growing list of "known problem OXPs" for 1.79.

The funny thing is, with Povray installed, the artifacts were just the same.. with the planet at top or bottom of the ASC, they'd appear.. but with System Redux, they only appeared with the planet at the top of the ASC, and not at the bottom..

Orbits?! That doesn't make a lot of sense - but I might be able to see if it also happens here now.

Yup.. but very reproducible here.. make it the only OXP installed.. take it out, it stops.. add it, it comes back.

Turns out it's not the whole story though.. :( :x I just had a different artifact situation crop up. The instance close to the planet/station has been fixed by removing orbits, but with it removed, on two occasions several hours apart, I got a planet-sized faceful of artifacts upon popping out of witchspace.. right where the planet should be.. nothing in the log about it though. I'll keep testing.

Something that does appear in the log though, going by the time compared to when I took a bunch of screenshots of it, was a twinkling/sparkling lights effect all around the circumference of the night side of a planet.. very pretty, but not how it should look at all. I'm guessing the warnings and errors relate to the effect.

Dizzy, check rh_vrshaderv.vertex. Does it contain a line like #define OO_TANGENT_ATTR 1? If yes, remove it and shift-restart.

Yes, it did.. I've commented it out, and will test shortly. (and ever since I made my first OXP, I've always kept a brick on the shift key )

Ok.. fixing the Random Hits shader got rid of the error messages.. the artifacts hiding the planet when sometimes arriving in a system remain, however, as do the sparkly pixels along the nightside circumference of the planet.
