Most Barry Gray-composed themes from the likes of "Space: 1999" are good as well. And Christopher Franke's compositions for "Babylon 5".

Take my love, take my land,
Take me where I cannot stand.

I don't care, I'm still free,
You can't take the sky from me...

Shiny! 8)
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

Now you've done it. You just had to post that link, and of course I had to click it... now I've got "Benson, Arizona" running in my head to the point where I had to have it playing in the background of my last Oolite session in Atomic Annie while inbound to Errius. And I've been browsing through "Dark Star" movie clips on YouTube which has been a surprisingly enjoyable experience. Thanks, mate. :D

I can't help thinking of there being Oolite versions of Boiler, Pinback et al being crew on a particularly slow rustbucket Anaconda freighter, what with all their efforts in avoiding abject boredom in interstellar space...

Happy to oblige! :D

The thing which really stands out for me in Dark Star - which definitely fits in with the Oolite universe - is the way Dan O'Bannon, the film's co-author, makes starships into places not for clean-cut heroes or military types but for blue-collar workers doing a job that might be complex, but one that's also tedious and probably not really terribly well-paid (you can see the same idea in Alien, too, which O'Bannon also wrote the screenplay for). All of which, of course, makes it the perfect setting for a Country and Western song about love, loss, and relativistic time dilation.

I reckon This could be reworked into something Oolitey...

Funny how country music and space travel go so well together!

Ah yes, the Man in Black... one of the true greats!

Talking of country music, here's a bit of country-rock, dedicated to all you bounty-hunters out there - Contract!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

I made a music pack up from a Creedence Clearwater Revival Greatest Hits album.. that works well in Oolite.
