@rbird: Could you try replacing the oolite.exe file with the one in the zip file I linked to milinks above....and see if that fixes things. It should do.

Yes, worked just fine. Turned out some guy just wanted to sell me a Trumble (the dialog WITH PICTURE (YAY!) popped up almost as soon as I loaded my saved game). Apparently if you don't forcefully tell him no, he keeps asking and asking and asking, even following you from port to port to do so. 
Strangely enough, the trumbles seem to be more and more agressive in this new version. In just one trip, I scooped two canisters that I believe contained dead trumbles (they weren't identified at first, but appeared to be Alien Items, the other was Furs I think). I had never noticed these strange canisters before, though I had heard they existed.
