Hello
I just obtained the cloaking device and it doesn't seem to do a great deal for me. I turned it on when a missile was heading for me, and it still hit me, even though I thought it was supposed to lose its lock.
Is the destroy the thargoid space station in Oolite at the moment?

DId i miss the cloaking device container?

Oopsie!
I changed how some of the code worked and it had a knock on effect on the cloaking device - causing it not to have any function. I'm correcting it now and it should be working again in v1.65 beta 3 (Friday with any luck!).

Yay! Unfortunately I sold the ship that had it as it appeared to be useless. Does that mean I can't get it again?

Sorry, it's a unique item. You can try resetting the mission variables as suggested, if you don't mind messing with your saved game.

Why does it add so little to my ship's value?

Because you have no way of selling it without alerting the authorities to the fact you have it.
That's a terribly unsatisfactory answer, I know.
The thing is it's a reward from an original elite mission, that doesn't
fit terribly well with Oolite's expansions (like being able to buy and sell ships).
I think that I should probably make it something that travels with the player from ship to ship (making it a small portable plug-in device for the ship's shields or whatnot). Waddayathink?

Sounds like a good idea. I've actually been putting off finishing the cloaking device mission until I get a ship that I want to have it on...

BTW i remember original Elite cloaking device was highly energy consuming, as well as ECM. Now i can fly with it turned on all the time and i think it is not ok..

What type of ship are you using? It drains the energy banks of my Boa Class Cruiser in about a minute. But that's more than enough time to dispatch all the escorts in a convoy.

Supercobra, i chose it because of high energy recharge rate
With NEU installed of course.
So that's ok, it's just me using an ubership
