Hi Mike,

I joined a week ago after playing Elite some 30+ years back. The thing most find at the start is docking without a docking computer (you will need some decent trade runs to buy one) and blowing up on entering. I found by adding the OXP 'Griffs Station bundle & Griffs Shipset' made everything much detailed and clearer & I didn't crash once.

A week on trying to remember things & now have a well equipped Cobra with 15,000 credits and 11 kills under my belt.

Very addictive game - enjoy it at whatever speed you want. 8)

To make the manual docking more rewarding you could install my [EliteWiki] Safe Docking OXP (requires [EliteWiki] Galcop Rewards OXP) which will reward you for docking "safely" and penalise you for bad docking. :-)
