I just had my first wormhole experience last night, having DLed the new 1.62 for Linux. Free transport! Wahey!!! Flew in... and got jumped by four Thargoids.
That'll teach me to freeload on other people's fuel...
The new version is amazingly cool, by the way - I love the red laser hit effects, and the new info key on the destination system screen is right handy. Oh, and the fact that blasting pirates produces lots of salvageable stuff now

You mean wrecks.oxp works on your version? I only get alloys and the occasional cannister.
To find a wormhole, hang around the Eagis for a while, a trader will launch, bobbing around for escorts then leave the escorts behind in exasperation as he hypers out. just intercept the blue sphere and you'll end up in a nearby system on his tail usually. look left, then right. No cops? blast him! Now you also have a hold halffull of goodies to sell.
I got killed by trumbles a few minutes ago. crowding out the display...grr.
They should stay in the hold, if there is room there. But these lovable creatures like to be near me, the best place is on the console.
(They ate my 'passengers'!)
(this begs for another rumour in the wiki-trumble entry: some trumbles have eaten their owners if they didn't get fed often enough.)

Ahh, another similarity to cats.

Not sure if this was addressed to me, but no, there's no wrecks.oxp here. Just that I'm suddenly collecting up lots more than just alloys from the pirates, seemingly as a result of upgrading to 1.62. Often gold, platinum and gemstones. Must be the pirates' rainy day funds
I also get heavy cargo, weighted towards the illegal stuff, as you might expect of pirates.
