Bugger.

My Kickstarter end video would have been much cooler if I'd known that. How vexing.

I tried this last night and, as you can probably guess, it worked.

Apologies for density levels.

Got my camera drones damaged in a firefight just now - it threw this error:

Code: Select all

18:28:27.016 [script.javaScript.warning.ooliteDefined]: ../AddOns/Cim.oxp/Camera_Drones_1.2x.oxp/Scripts/camera_drones.js, line 48.

Thanks - should be fixed in 1.3. First post has been updated.

I've also split the fly-by camera into three speeds, which should cover a range of uses.

Camera Drones 1.4 is now out, since I needed a few extra cameras while getting pics for the new website.

New cameras in this version:
- flyby (long): same speed as the medium one, but from a bit further back
- target (follow) and target (lead): cinematic-ish external views of your current target

cim I tried to update to this version in trunk with the oxz manager but I got this message,

Image

I know its 1.80 but I thought this was the best place to report the issue,
log,

Code: Select all

Opening log for Oolite development version 1.80.0.5817-140622-18c05dc (x86-64 test release) under Linux 3.5.0-45-generic at 2014-06-22 15:06:10 +0000.

I had just updated the oxz list, I then updated to the latest version of trunk and tried uninstalling the old oxz then installing the new one but get the same results.

Thanks - I'd not updated the download URL. If you update the OXZ list again, then redownload, it should work.

There seems to be a problem with this OXZ, cim - both the managed version and the manual download (via the new address).
The older .zip version (from the top of this thread, via the old address) still downloads okay though.

Moved hosting and copied the wrong version across - sorry about that. Should be working fine now, I hope.

The wiki page for this OXP implies that there might be four different pieces of equipment:
There are four available cameras:

Missile camera The Missile Camera tracks your most recently fired missile, following it closely to its target. If you have no missiles currently in flight, this setting cannot be used, and the camera drones will be deactivated.

Fly-by camera This camera begins ahead of your ship, then flies alongside it to a similar distance aft. Then, the sequence begins again, rotated. Useful for checking your hull for damage. Four variations of fly-by are available.

Docking camera This camera is positioned in a fixed location near the docking port of the nearest station. Activate the camera, then turn on your docking computer and watch your ship fly in from a new perspective.

Target cameras These cameras provide an approximate simulation of your current target's forward view, or two different nearby views. May give odd results if your current target is not a ship.
I've utterly failed to get any of this to do anything! Are there actually four different pieces of equipment or not? Hiran's database only mentions the vanilla camera drone.

There are no pieces of equipment, only four different 'views'.

I'm assuming you read the first paragraph on how to use this OXP and still couldn't get it work.
While in flight, press Shift-N to cycle through your equipment to the camera drones. Then use the secondary activation key (b) to select the camera you wish to use from the installed list. When you have selected the camera, activate the equipment (n), and switch to your external view (v). To deactivate the drones, and return to your default external view, press 'n' again.
