Folks.
Sent this to Frontier Development yesterday
Hoping to pitch a kickstarter aimed at raising funds for the £4,500 writers' pledge. I'm hoping to write a Novella called "Elite : Reclamation".
I have made a video with footage from the original Elite (Spectrum version) and Frontier (PC emulation). I have acknowledged Frontier copyright at the start as appropriate.
Could I have your permission to use this?
Many thanks,
Drew Wagar.
Got this back just now...

Cheers,
Drew.

Woohoo! All gauges in the green.. stand by for ignition!
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

Thus proving the man may have in fact mellowed.

Video and revised graphics uploaded, pledges defined, approval from DB... and submitted.
Just waiting for Kickstarter approval. Will post up when it's live.
Cheers,
Drew.

I actually liked the wireframe Cobra better... but what the heck, I'm interested in the story

I see you used the Griff Cobra III - good, but his alternative
Cobra III may look more
fitting - more canonical, perhaps?
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

That can be one of the infamous 'updates' then.
Hope Griff doesn't mind me pinching his Cobra... no 'actual' game footage from E:D available yet - his is the best yet!

Can hardly believe I got a response from the man himself, but maybe a good omen. Massive amount of money to raise, but nothing ventured, nothing gained!
Cheers,
Drew.

<nods> That ship is growing on me lately - I have a
Jameson who flies one (all decalled-up, of course).

Folks,
Got approval for the kickstarter overnight. I will be launching it at 9am GMT or thereabouts (assuming no immediate crisis at work!) today. Pretty pleased with my initial page, I think you'll like it.
Wish me luck, it's going to be a bit of a mission, but let's see if we can make this happen. I'll be at your service for the design forum contributions too.
Cheers,
Drew.

Just as a devil's advocate question - what will you do if your kickstarter reaches its £4,500 but E:D's one doesn't reach its £1.25M?

I've sync'd the close dates as close as possible. In that event I will cancel early.
Cheers,
Drew.
