Stylish! I flew this ships and started destroying pirates like never before. Sorry if this is a newbie question, but are the lasers better than in, say, an Asp?

Nope. It comes with beam lasers. It's much faster, and quicker than an Asp, though, and if you purchase military lasers to replace the stock beam lasers, they will definitely do more damage. Glad you like the ship.
