Thank you so much for the overwhelming support and friendlyness!
That is one of the strengths of Oolite, it is more than a game it is a community. and one that welcomes new people and all their questions. How will a person learn anything if the forum is full of bumholes! There are quite a few denizens of this place that started like your self and even some didn't even know how to install oxp's, now they are writing missions and helping others. It is a nice place to be 8)

Amazing game, so much more than Elite! I always enjoyed the more realistic physics of Frontier and FFE, so I was reluctant to go back to "no intertia", but it *is* fun.
Of course it IS! It is Oolite

My first love in space sim genre was the MS Space Simulator, whose physics were quite real (although not perfect), and I thought that no inertia would bother me, but in the end, I think it makes the game that much more playable ;).

Well, I think the battles in Frontier were quite great. Especially with those Reconnaissance Missions for the military of the Federation with a bunch of Imperial Couriers coming onto me close to the planet surface. You can't just blindly accelerate toward the enemy ship if you don't want to crash into the planet!

To make things easier for your Navy comrades, why not grab a quirium mine before you arrive insystem?
As you arrive at the rendezvous, hare off ahead of your forces at full burn towards the enemy fleet making sure that you dump the mine just inside the cloud, and keeping the pedal to the metal, flip to rear view to watch the fun. With luck you'll wipe out a good chunk of the invading force, or on rare occasions the whole fleet!
Always ensure you have sufficient fuel for this manovre and remember, you must reach the enemy fleet well before your comrades - or you won't be very popular when they get caught in the blast...
It's not by the book, soldier, but by gosh it gets things done!!

Yes, I was considering that. Actually I always keep a q-bomb on me... but I thought that the friendly ships would be caught in the blast for sure. Even before the battle starts, the two fleets are fairly close to each other.

Not always: Quite often the enemy fleet has not yet arrived and if you follow the direction the Navy ships are pointing and floor it you can intercept them quite a distance away, But timing is crucial. Too slow and you'll wipe out your own fleet (Red faces all round!!), drop the mine too late and watch it go off ineffectually between you and yhe enemy - back to plan B and a lot of hard work!! But when it works right the lengthy chain reaction is such a joy, making up for the paucity of credited kills and bounty this tactic won't get you. It's not a great earner
