Apologies in advance folks,

I'd love to be there but I am alas duty bound in Central England... If per chance some event occurs closer to Middle England I will redouble my efforts to be in attendance. I hope that those attending have a great evening.

Alas I too will be unable to make the trip to the old stomping grounds. Make sure to visit Rose Street and try to get from one end to the other.

I was contemplating a Midlands Gathering too, Duggan, since I live in Derby. Everyone seems to organise stuff at the nether ends of the country but no-one seems to go for the centralised location.

Nottingham would be my location of choice.

Anyway, you Scottish Lot, have a great time and sink a McEwans for me.

I know some people who might object to that description of Edinburgh! The city is, admittedly, about 30-odd miles closer to Lerwick than it is to London, so it does just about fall into the north half of the country, but ... ;)

Sadly I'm otherwise engaged, or I'd look to make it along the M8!

Nottingham would suit me :)

If there is enough interest, I could organise something.

I was born and brought up in Kirkcaldy, just over the Forth from Edinburgh ;-) Hard though it may be to accept, but Scotland always seems to be thought of as the "nether regions" of the UK. Mostly by you English (CENSORED). ;-)

Duggan: MINI ELITE CON!! You and Me. Revolution. Derby City Centre...

Absolutely. That's no way to talk about the London Borough of Edinburgh. 8)

(Having become familiar with Glasgow, then Stirling, but then visiting Edinburgh and wondering which country I was in...)

Ha! Wait 'til Scotland gets independence... then you'll be repatriated!

And a monarchy with it - don't forget Elizabeth I gave the crown to James VI of Scotland.

So if the Scots do get independence, what are us English going to do for a royal family? Especially since Posh & Becks are also leaving us to live in LA.

We always have Sean Connery! Who loves Scotland so much he would rather live anywhere but Scotland!

We'll find a long-lost descendent of the Plantagenets as a new monarch, and lay claim to France again!
