Still can't work out how to get own ship a griff cobra

If you want the Griff multi-decal Cobra as your player ship, in the ‘default_Jameson_ship_is_griff_cobra3.oxp’ (available here), open the shipdata-overrides.plist in a text editor, and change line 4 from:

Code: Select all

like_ship = "griff_normalmapped_cobra_mkIII_player";

to:

Code: Select all

like_ship = "griff_normalmapped_cobra_mkIII_multidecal_player";
Restart Oolite with shift held down until the spinning Cobra appears, and that should give you the multi-decal Cobra as your player ship.

Thank you El Viejo for the quick reply!

Something is wrong because I have installed the default_Jameson_ship_is_griff_cobra3.oxp and on starting the nose laser canon is there but the ship is still vanilla planes:

Image

Same thing with the

Code: Select all

like_ship = "griff_normalmapped_cobra_mkIII_multidecal_player";
in the shipdata-overrides.plist

Hmmm, what have I gone done wrong?

If I push N and look at all the intro ships they are all vanilla styling and when I launch I note now that none of the griff ships show up - only the stations.

I think i may have an oxp that is overriding the ships - I'm going to play along those lines - can you see anything from the list of the OXPs in my log above that would casue this?

Best regards

edit - something definitely not right - I have removed all the OXPs and restarted with shift held down and yet when I add the griff shipset only the station is remapped...

That is a very odd pic, stardotstar... it's got me foxed atm!

Might this be because I am running the Beta? 1.75.3 ??

No... that's what nearly everyone runs... it's fine.

Looks like it was some conflict with system redux? I have started pulling them in and out and restarting with shift down and system redux seemed to be overriding...

The rest of the OXPs back in and now seems to be still ok

Okay, cool... I don't believe that System Redux can be the culprit, though.

Something was most def up because now System Redux and its update 1.2.2 is installed and all is fine...

Is there something that confirms that the cache has been properly refreshed by holding down shift when starting the application?

Thanks for the help!

This line in your log confirms that: [dataCache.rebuild.explicitFlush]: Cache explicitly flushed with shift key. Rebuilding from scratch
You can look at the log in-game, if you wish.
You don't have to flush the cache with the shift key if you're moving oxps into or out of the AddOns folder, only if you edit something within.

I'd recommend the Dodo Stations oxp by Griff/CaptKev, as well.

Got it. Loving the set I've got now. Thanks for all the help guys.
I'll post a snap of what I've ended up with for future reference.
I know all this gets repeated and done to death but I really appreciate the friendly advice and patience.

I'd take out the "Griff_Debris_sets135_no_normal_map.oxp" as i don't think it does anything anymore - the best bits from it were reworked as "griff_alloys_and_wreckage.oxp" which has some really cool scripts by the forum code wizards to help make the oxp be less of a system hog
