Maybe the courier should feed them, then he can dump a copy of that selection for each one who wants them

having sorted out the "technology" i'm going to re-texture the ships.

Gorgeous ship - love the screenie - very atmospheric.
Video very cool - a proper slug-fest - pity the damage plasma venting can't be scripted - it seems a little out of scale given the size of the ships.
However, the scripted destruction is very cool - perhaps you and Griff could team up and put some of his burning alloy shader effects along the edges of the breaks in the superstructures.

Just saw the youtube video ... and wow
Where do I start? Cool ships, weird lasers, interesting plasma cannons, very intriguing.
What are they going to be? Military super ships? An unknown alien invasion force? A new sort of super frigate?
Very cool

looks cool, but custom special lasers and "super lasers"?? i'm against this sort of thing, as it's just another branch of uberness.

well it only has one kind of laser, the super laser..
and pulse weapons for combating anything that are within a scripted range that is atm 20 km, since the standard plasma cannons range is only 5 km..
its pitch and roll abilities is very poor, I suspect a good player could actually defeat it while dodging the pulse weapons at close range, while dodging the super laser at long range... I Think 2-3 good shots from the super-laser would take out an iron ass Cobra III.
its not a standard ship as you are used to
It is a Capital ship and as such a very large ship... its 3 km long and you can see it from very far away...
But No you can't park your ship at the edge of 20 km and take it out by rolling your military lasers (of which you can have 4), before it aims the super laser at you and takes you out or forces you to actually dodge its fire.
Not überness, but balanced superior fire-power, as you wouldn't and shouldn't in your frigate sized Imperial courier or cobra III be able to take it out, with anything less than a Q bomb.
It is military, high tech, and if your ship is small enough, you can actually dock in it... a Cobra III cannot for example..
And to add to that, it also carries A fighter screen.. of which type I have two candidates, but more on that later

Ships blowing up is a convenience in games and films, but it doesn’t really make much sense. The primary goal of naval combat is to disable a ship and force the crew to abandon it, not to sink it – let alone evaporate it.
In other words, I’d quite like to see the broken sections drift off as individual derelicts, without the delayed explosions. A bunch of escape pods, lifeboats and auxiliary craft would be nice too, of course. :-)
