Re: Science Fiction Trivia
A USN Captain is single-handedly sailing his yacht across the Atlantic when two UFOs scream overhead, shooting at each other... and at a USN carrier group that happens to be nearby.

Re: Science Fiction Trivia
Clue the first: the pilot of one UFO is an alien cyborg of sorts, whereas the pilot of the other UFO is a human female with a Russian name. But she is not Russian… she is in fact from the 25th century, and has travelled back in time to hunt the cyborg.

Re: Science Fiction Trivia
Clue the second: the human UFO pilot crashes into the sea, gravely injured, and is rescued by the lone sailor.
As a bonus, here is an anagram of the title: Stop the local replay.

Re: Science Fiction Trivia
OK, time for the clue.
In this first novel of a series, a master-criminal is finally captured and in a poacher-turned-gamekeeper scenario is given the task of thwarting an attempt by another arch-villain to build a superweapon of sorts.
Name of the novel and author please.

Re: Science Fiction Trivia
Time for another clue.
The 'superweapon' in question is a battleship, based on an old Imperial design and far more powerful than anything currently in existance.

Re: Science Fiction Trivia
This sounds vaguely like Eye of Terror by Barrington J Bayley.
A fairly good Warhammer 40,000 novel.

Re: Science Fiction Trivia
It's been many, many years since I read it, and I can't remember the plot at all, but poacher-turned-gamekeeper sounds like Harry Harrison's The Stainless Steel Rat ...
