I have a similar setup to you (well i7 CPU and GT 635M), but I'm having lots of troubles with FPS in ED. Often only 10-15 FPS when in stations, which is making docking problematic. What FPS are you getting?

What settings are you running at? Resolution? ED settings??
I'm running ED at 1024x768 on the Low preset. It doesn't look too bad but I'll let you judge from these screenshots:

As you can see, I get an average of 18-19FPS in station and about 30-31FPS in system. It looks okay both on my laptop and on my 40 inch HD LCD TV through the HDMI:

But it is smooth gameplay and it hasn't crashed (yet)!

Thats not bad really. I'm going to try the same settings (thanks very much) and see how I do.

Do you actually play via the TV? I assume you don't double up on the displays when connected to the TV (I've tried that but my GPU can only handle one at a time) without much stuttering. Plus the wife wants the telly on when I'm gaming so I doubt I'll be able to do that a lot. Shame really, as the TV I have does active 3D quite well.

If I play via the TV (see fifth screenshot from previous post) I have the laptop hooked up through the TV via HDMI and use my Wireless Xbox 360 Controller for PC in combination with my Wireless Keyboard, only displaying on the TV. If playing on laptop I use same setup but use the laptop's keyboard rather than a wireless one.

I may be able to increase the graphics settings but as this works and looks okay I haven't bothered fixing what ain't broken!

Please post your results to compare GT 620M and 635M - based on this table you have about 1.5 times more raw power.

On the ED forums there is a new sub-forum called Elite: Dangerous Groups. So I'm wondering how long it is before those of us who play Oolite start playing together on ED? :P

Admittedly though I've only been playing on Solo mode so far...

I'm probably waiting until the official release comes out. So it'll be a while before you see me out there. But I do hope to run into everyone when I do.

Things certainly do seem to have gotten quieter around here since the public beta was released.. and all of a sudden Cody is mostly absent.. think I know what he's up to!
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

This evening, if all goes well. Then I've got some serious Oolite play to catch-up on before I venture into the E: D Beta.

Neither have I, senior, neither have I. It is time I fire it up soon. I still haven't checked out the new version  . I'm always apprehensive about updates ;).

Good morning commanders,

There is a new build available for download. Beta 1.04 is a minor interim release on the same development branch as 1.03, fixing a small number of niggling bugs, listed below.
We're still working very hard on the trunk for Beta 2 and will have news on this soon.

- Insurance screen occasionally not being displayed after ship was destroyed.
- Very occasional crash when outfitting weapons.
- Game occasionally getting stuck in the shipyard when buying a new ship.
- Improvements to joining populated multiplayer islands.

Thanks,
Adam

Buyable shipskins seem to be causing a lot of discussion, for various reasons.
I gotta admit, they do absolutely nothing for me! National flags? Jeez!
