More good news, at least for me personally - a guy on a laptop nearly identical to mine can run E:D.

That means I'm gonna wait a year or two for the game to get out. $150 is still too much for me, and I hope the prices in other countries will be in local currencies and not dollars (the exchange rate is pretty punitive here)

$150? The standard beta (the one due out next week) is £50, compared to £35 for the released game.

Well, the Standard Beta is £50, and the Lifetime Expansion Pass is £35.. for a total of £85, which comes to AU$155.. I've been budgeting for it for a while now, and should be able to grab it tomorrow, just days before the LEP offer ends.

Diz... if you come-up short of cash, you can apparently buy just the LEP now, and add the game itself later.

Can you still buy the LEP? Or is it the 29th when you can't buy it any more?

So ... you can walk around on planets and stations, but aren't allowed to fly between them?

<sniggers>

@kanthony: the deadline for buying the LEP is the 29th, according to the store.

Decided what the hell.. waiting would only save me $30.. and I made $50 today fixing a guys computer driver problem, so I've just bought the beta and LEP.

(not to mention that he won't be picking up his computer for a couple of days, and it's a brand-new, state-of-the-art $4000 gaming beast.. way better than my laptop.. so I'll give it a quick test-run on his machine, then uninstall it before he collects it.. :twisted: :twisted: )

I don't think my current system will be able to run it :cry:

I got a 3.10 Ghz processor, but it seems like I need a dual core 4x2ghz minimum? Yikes... I wonder how expensive it will be to upgrade?

EDIT

Wait... no... I have this processor

WOO! It's a fit, right?

That's what I thought, too, but the guy has a dual-core Intel i7 @ 2.4 Ghz.

i7 processors are hyperthreaded, so each core can do two things at once. So a dual core i7 is effectively a quad core.

Hopefully if I read my stats right, the processor I've got is okay. If so... I just might have to get this puppy early! :D

Aye, an i7 should handle it - but the GPU would possibly be a bottleneck. That though is easier to upgrade.
