The 63 million is from wikipedia. You are probably right about the number on the electoral role. It still means most people want to remain in or aren't that bothered.
I do also question why 16/17 year olds were not entitled to vote, as they were in the Scottish referendum. This whole thing was about our future, and they are our future - they should have had a say!

Happens in just about every general election - democracy in action!

Well, nothing is perfect, but a thought-through version of PR would be good for most elections, and for referenda (not that we have many, thankfully) a clear majority of the electorate should be a minimum criterion.

Time will tell if this was a good decision or not. As it stands the EU parliament in Brussels and especially it's leaders are living on a whole other planet than the citizens of Europe. The BREXIT is a clear sign that the EU has to be redesigned to face the multiple challenges we have in Europe at the moment. I'm not against the EU but I think the system is not working right at the moment. So I understand why people wanted out.

The Brexit will force Europe to look at itself again, and it will be improved into more like what it really should be. And of course we won't be there to benefit from it.

It probably should have been compulsory with over 50% registered population and advisory above a 50% vote.

If there's another Scottish referendum, they should poll the whole UK. If over 50% of the Scottish registered population vote to leave then it's leave; if the Scottish vote is over 50% then it goes to the whole UK vote.

Some very interesting stuff is happening. It's becoming apparent that there are some BIG legal problems in pulling out - without getting too technical, it needs the consent of the Scottish Parliaments and Northern Ireland Assembly, the government don't have either.

The referendum result is drawing attention to the complete mess of the constitutional arrangements of the "United" Kingdom, England & its colonies.

For many decades now the pommies have insisted that England and Scotland were two separate countries, refusing to bend their definition of a country to conform to the prejudices of the USA and UN. If that is so, there is no reason at all Scotland can't remain in the EU while England leaves. Nicola Sturgeon implying that Scotland would have to be "independent" of the UK to remain in EU is opportunistic bulldust. The Scots had their referendum; they wanted to remain an English colony, they were afraid to be an independent country. Now they have voted to remain in the EU. Independence isn't part of the Scottish psyche. The real parliament in London should abolish the Scottish parliament and outlaw the SNP.

The knives are out in the Labour party! Corbyn got the Brexit which I suspect he really wanted, but his position may be dodgy now!
