Are you sure you don't mis-remember? Oolite 1.62 alpha from early 2006 displays the kill count without OXPs.

What... getting younger? Hmm... something like the Hobart Phase, perhaps?

Ditto.. I advise every youngster I meet to avoid it like the plague.

Derailed? Torn into pieces..
So what do we do to practice fighting, avoiding empty space beside space lanes, make Thargoid drones less easy, avoid getting older?
Less Computer games, more Sports!! How often do you change the chains on your bike? Which Techlevel does this require? Would that be possile in Somalia Anarchy, TL2?
Do you keep a kill count for the dogs you ran over?
I'd vote for a bounty to be paid for every pedestrian you make jump when silently appearing from behind.
There are more dogs beyond the main lanes by the way. The cars on the main lanes are simply too dangerous to take on by bike.
My Cargo Bay extension was 70€ but can still not carry more than 20kg. But I did not yet succeed to get some platinum cargo contracts, so who cares.

Not quite. Ontilain is
second; there is one system which has the station about 30km further on.
I'll put forward another candidate - Aesarge? Quite a large planet, is Aesarge.
How long does it take to travel 30km on max torus, btw - a couple of seconds?

Aesarge is large, but while the centre of Aesarge is further from the witchpoint than the centre of Ontilain, the station is a bit closer. Those are the two biggest in that chart, though.
30km on max torus (assuming a Cobra III) ... 2.7 seconds in normal space, 0.1 seconds in fully clear space.

I don't have any experience of WC: Privateer (although I do have now-hazy memories of playing the original Wing Commander on an Amiga, ages ago [puffs on pipe, pats out random smouldering facial hair] ...). If you've got Oolite 1.80, there's a useful in-game tutorial available when you start a new commander, which should lead you through the basics of combat, docking, etc., starting off with stationary targets and working up to fighting against drone ships.
I have similar memories of playing original Elite, when growing a beard was a novelty rather that the hinderance of not growing has now became.
My advice is to ask where you can get an earlier version like 1.72 or 1.76 to cut your teeth on. The 'baddies' i.e. Everyone in scanner range. Are not so aggressive or numerous all the time.
Keyboad control!! Gave me R.S.I. Get a joystick and forget yaw control, tis a huge cheat in my opinion. But then so is banking into turns in space?? But I love it.
Thinking about that, where can I get older versions?
