Good guess with Star Trek 3 as it is by the same composer. James Horner is just so obvious

I believe it is the theme tune to Cocoon.

I swear if you listen to the themes from Star Trek 2 and Krull they are nearly identical.

Polydichloric euthimal also featured in Terminator 2, where it was used as an explosive.
I'll be back soon with a new question.

Apologies for the delay.

A psychologist is hired by corporate interests to investigate a town in a valley where marketing seems totally ineffective. Outside businesses are allowed in, but wither quickly for lack of business. The townsfolk aren't hostile, they just won't shop there, appearing maddeningly self-satisfied with their quaint, local lifestyle.

Name of the Novel and Author please.

Is it "The Santaroga Barrier" by Frank Herbert?

Indeed it is, and very well deduced from my meagre clue.

Ok, here is the next question:

Rick Deckard, a bounty hunter, uses a certain device do identify the androids he hunts down. What is the name of the device and the name of the novel? The novel, NOT the movie!

That would be Illudium Phosdex (or however you spell it) - as hunted for by Bugs Bunny and also by my former avatar, Marvin the Martian. And also by Duck Dodgers (in the 24th and a half century!).
