we basically need the dodeca and monuments, to establish a basic 'atmosphere'
shipdesigns are welcome, but might take a while to get them flying (except for dirty hack) ... so no real hurry.
if you email your unfinished designs' wingsfile to me, I can translate it to oolite friendly, put it up in space and take screenshot, so you get better idea how it looks.
(except for the shipyard which caused a crash, probably too complex)
if you have no textures, Oolite gives the designs a 'generic' texture, so no problem.
Oh, and one model per file, please, I'm too dumb to separate them... different textures for one model is no problem, but go easy on filesize in that case

Indeed!
Another reason i need your imput on the designs, I could work 24hrs on an elaborate model, which then cannot be used effectively in the game.
So: when I post a model, I'd like to hear it when it's too elaborate, so I can start losing vertices early on.
I uploaded the 'finished' Sarcoroid.
Edit:post denied, i'll mail it
I like the tower, but maybe it's too monumental for a generic S'roid model?
Maybe more little crosses and headstones? (For a next generation model, adding stuff renders the textures irrellevant)
(I think I'll design MY monument as a Disney-castle on an asteroid, maybe with a Cobra MkIII on the lawn)[/b]

A_H: Only after your email I realized you're Dutch speaking, too!
Haven't had a look at your files, yet, been busy setting up new playground: with the code in the right maps etc.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/spacerash ... 20innards/
hope that link works...
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/spacerashstash/ should, look in files...

I created a new group called TionislaGY on yahoo, more space!
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TionislaGY
edit: Just realised you did the same.

Anyone else having problems with A_H's .obj files? DropObj2Dat gives me empty files
Edit, going to put the files at the Tionisla group, and delet the cruft on the other one, so there's more space there...
A_H I emailed you some of your designs, as rendered in the Oolite engine

Selezen wrote:Also, how do I place something relative to the space station? Does the station have a predetermined location relative to the planet, or is the position hardcoded?
Right then. I added a location read-out to the FPS display for my test builds and I can state (to the nearest centimeter) that Tionisla station is at:
pwm 82502.45 -12669.09 40828.51

Cool, thanks Rik.
I'll upload a jpg of the buoy-skin, It's just intermediate.
(will continue work tomorrow or later tonight)
Changed the dockingport into a missile-rack,
I want some feedback on the two designs I came up with...Red tips or black holes? Or other ideas?

Woah!! Talk about workaholics! I feel like the slacker in the bunch now.
Right - if someone can upload the starting point OXP then I can get to work.
A_H, can you reduce the size of the beacon model? It seems a little large. Maybe take it down to half the size?
The Krait skin looks damn nice. The Octagon skins are great, and I like the dark one for the beacons...
What's a sarcophagoid?

Listen, I could set up a shared area on my site somewhere to allow you all to upload and download if you like. I don't have such strict download limits as Yahoo!
If you're interested, let me know and I can sort it out.

That would be nice, Selezen.
I origionally designed the Octagon as a smallish-station for the GY, didn't think it was still the same size (1km) as a beacon...figured 'you guys' had resized it.
How about....25m diameter?

way too small.
Remember, there'll be lots of big structures there, probably, so six teenyweeny beacons/defenseposts would look underwhelming. 25m stations can not launch anything bigger than a missile, too... So no scarabs, OR they would be very small (some kind of unmanned fighters) I'd go for 100m minimum.
...but are you suggesting to make them just beacons, not defenseposts? Or am i reading things between the lines that are not there?
(edit)
btw: don't post textures under pictures, but under files, pictures is for screenshots etc, to look at, but not to work with...
btw 2 (zagevent!) if you upload designs, can you comment what filestructure they are in? (seems I only can use .wings files... Darn compatibility issues...)

We have already exceeded our bandwidh limit at the new group!
so no one can up- or d/l for the moment. What's their limit? 5Mb a day maybe?

Picture posted in photo's is a preview-texture. That is why I didn't put it in the files-folder and chose jpg-format.

A_H. Sorry for telling you the obvious, have fun.
Selezen: when trying to upload to your place i got:
The following Error occured.
You did not enter a server path to save your file to.
Hit the back button, make the needed corrections and resubmit your information.

Hmm...I tried it out, and it worked OK...my planetinfo.plist file is on there now.
That error usually happens if a file hasn't been selected (it's always best to use the BROWSE buttons, and start from the top of the list).
It might also happen if there's a typo in the path you have entered.
Come Monday, I might be able to install a proper file manager system with subdirs and everything. Trouble is that it's on my computer at work!
