For Ramirez: Reporting bug in: Trident Down OXP

Hi
I went to find Yuri at that suborbital station.

The guy runaway he was shot down by the cops and he crashed on the planet.

I pick up the containers, almost crashing on the planet as it was at very low altitude.

Then, I went back to the station and nothing happened, when I went back Yuri was shot down again by the planet.

I went to the station and again Yuri was there, but no cops.

Yuri asked me to dont shoot him, "I ll give you what you want"

I followed him for an hour, hoping that he would give me what I want, I was especting the remained Trident Down or even the Alkrab or whatever useful.

After an hour I shot it down and story continued as normal.

Recomendations:
Yuri shouldnt ask for Mercy.

The cops should shoot him so close to the planet.
Can you do something about?
Can I do something for you?
Thanks

Thanks Ramtes.

Looking back, you're right, the messages from Batkov are misleading. I will change them so that it's clear you need to destroy his ship to progress the mission.

I will see what I can do to stop Batkov heading to the planet and crashing, or preventing you from collecting the cargo. At the moment he does the usual kind of fleeing actions that all ships do, getting as much distance between himself and the enemy. However, as the transit station is in a low orbit, I can see how this might result in a a headlong crash into the planet.

Some experience I want to tell you, before meeting the head of the company, I had a Nova Mission, and no refueling tank. I had to travel all the Galaxies to go back to Galaxy 4.

That's a good point. Other OXP missions set in Galaxy 4 postpone the Nova mission to stop this happening. I'll do the same for this mission so people can play properly first time through.

For me its fine the Nova, thats it, I went all around.
I dont know what would happen if Nova happen in Raceedat.

Something important:

I went to the last planet, (I forgot the name) Inla or something like that, to put a bomb in a ship.

I docked, the message told me that I sat down and I put the bomb, how nice was the ship, bla bla bla.
I went outside, the luxury ship came outside, I wait, wait, wait, until I had enough, and because were too many ships I detonated the Energy Bomb and nothing.

Then I put all my lasers, full laser on the ship and not even hurt.

I trigger the ECM hoping that would explote, nothing
I escape and went back to the planet before.

Whats happened???
Shal I wait more?
is something wrong with the stuff.
Anything I should press?
Thamks

Perhaps your target is just tougher than you thought? Normally you just should continue to hit it. Eventually it'll give in.

You can't destroy the ship with any normal equipment, including an energy bomb. You were meant to pick up some equipment in Raceedat, before you went over to Isanla.

Unfortunately the mission screen thinks you've already got it, so is a bit misleading!

I've modified the OXP to add in some reminders and make it clearer how this part is intended to work.

Trident Down v2.3

Also I've added some bits to suppress the Nova mission.

I started the mission in Raceedat and I didnt see anything.
I went to the mission saved before with my ship docked in Raceedat and it tells me that I should wait for more ATU instructions.
So what do you recommend me to do?

1 Download your OXP or return to Raceedat and come back to Isanla?

Thanks

If your answer is to download the new version of trident down:

Shal I delete the old one?
I am close to ISanla, with a Fugitive Status.
What do you recommend me to do?
I just want to finish and do another mission.

Also, I recommend to put something to make available to kill the ship in another way, so will be more realistic.
MAke it resistant to energy bombs, put lots of cops around, whatever, but if it gets killed it get killed.

I forgot something else, that you will not like.
I am quite sympathetic with Communism. That doesnt mean I like Stalin, Korean red flag Monarchy, not even Kmer Rough, what I hardly call Communistm.

But I respect your initiative to follow what you believe.

Good luck and please dont put me a bomb on my ship. Help me to finish the story.

Regard
Motherland or Death.

It's difficult to tell exactly where you are in the mission now, but here are some steps to get back on track:

- download Trident Down v2.3 and replace the old version
- open up your save game (from when you are in Isanla) in a text editor and search for the entry 'mission_trident_down'
- the string below that entry should currently be 'BODARENKOBOMBB'
- change the string to say 'BODARENKOC' and save the text file
- when you reload your saved game, you should get a message telling you to return to Raceedat

Alternatively, if you have a save-game where you are at Raceedat already:

- download Trident Down v2.3
- in your save game, change the mission_trident_down key to 'ASSAULTAFTERMATH4' and save
- you should now see a replay of the mission briefing screen telling you to go to Isanla
- visit the shipyard and pick up the equipment marked **ATU CLASSIFIED** - you may need to empty your pylons to do this

There is a reason why you cannot kill the ship in another way, which was explained in the mission screen:
'So you want me to arrange an accident for Colonel Bodarenko?'
'Not quite, Commander. We want you to send the emigres a clear message, that they will never be safe from the ATU. A mere accident, a witchdrive failure or an untimely fuel leak, could be misinterpreted and will not serve our purpose. Instead we want you to eliminate Bodarenko on his home territory, within Isanla itself.
...Using the security codes we have acquired, you will gain access to the shuttle and plant a radio-controlled explosive in the hold. When Bodarenko sets out on his next flight, you will detonate the device, destroying the shuttle in clear view of Isanla station. That should get the message across.'
It would have been far easiler easer for me to let you kill Bodarenko any old way, but where's the interest in that? Usually I wouldn't place such strict conditions on an event (I like emergent gameplay like everyone else) but I wanted to make an exception here.

As for the politics, Trident Down is a simple story of extreme right and left, with neither the Democracies nor the Communists coming across as being very sympathetic. The Communists make a rather better impression in the sequel, Iron Raven.

Hello and congrats for your excellent OXP. I think i have found a typo that prevented me from continuing the mission. After i killed Bodarenko and was heading to Raceedat the mission variable changed to BODARENKOEDEBRIEFA instead of BODARENKODEBRIEFA. So i could not make the debriefing in Raceedat. The typo is in the main script.
