Seen his stuff. It's great!
I know my limits though. I can script, but if I'd had a go at doing a Team Bus, you'd have ended up with Giles's python with "Zero G" written in crayon on the side!
No new models needed, but a retextured model for each victim would be cool!

Eg: My next victim is an anaconda. The McJamefire Trading Corperation has failed to pay its protection money to the Mafia.
One of their ships "The Fair Wind" is powered down orbiting a space station undergoing its 20,000 ly service. The Mafia would like sombody to arrange that this corperate asset suffers an "accident", in order to demonstate the purdence of keeping up with insurance cover.
I have done all the script to offer the mission and put the ship in parked orbit, have a squad of vipers defend the ship etc. But at the moment though, my ship just uses Giles's standard Anaconda skin. (ie i've done the script and and programing for the ship - just can't do the graphics)
Now if sombody wanted to take a standard anacona skin and re-do it so that it had some holes in it, maybe some guys in space-suits crawing over it and a name-plate saying "McJamefire Corperation : The Fair Wind" that would really polish the OXP up!

i'd join in and do one but my plate's a little full ATM.
you know there's plenty of fancy image editing moves to nicely alter an existing texture, even if one doesn't consider oneself a Rembrandt. at least to make a working model while developing the OXP.

I reckon it will take me a month or so to pefect the script. If I have no better offers I'll go back and do re-do the models myself. Using Giles's modles is helpful though as I'll at least have a version 1 with Giles's models for graphics. I'd have a lot to live up to after seing the models ramon has done!

i dunno - you may well have checked this out already - but Flying_Circus has done an really excellent guide to creating very nice looking skins, very easily. Even I can do it! (though not right now, before you ask
) now, if i
ever get my system garbage-scow-dumpster-buttuglything out of the 'half textured stage' the Ooniverse might have a very scruffy addition.

Cheers for the good review........here's that tenner I owe you
By the way, it's not just a re-textured Python, it has been remodelled too. The original Python is all pointy at the front, whereas the one I've done is all chunky at the front, thought it'd be cool to make it look like it really had been modded to accomodate the whole hockey team. And yes, before you say it, i know the original Python has enough cargo space for a load of passenger cabins, but this way looks cooler

I know ramon, but I cannot ask people to put that much effort in. A new paint job would be enough. Heretic's pimiped ships and murghs "rusty" ships look really good, without having to tweak the model itself. I woudn't expect anything a detailed as flying circus's ships.
Do anybody know where I can get flying circus's texture guide from? Or the programme to retexture a ship?

Might be able to do a texture myself (by cheating!)
Seached the internet for pictures of rusty metal. And found err pictures of rusty metal. If I can work out how to paste these onto the standard anaconda model. I'll me able to make an annaconda with damaged look!

Coudn't get the shipmodels working, but mastered the showimage code!
"Tarted up" the OXP with some nice pictures to go with the mission briefings and iNEWS broadcasts:-
And pictures of your "mark" to go with the briefings offering you the hit:-

Ah, looks like I'll have to re-render those craft pics to match the screen dimensions (looks like 4:3). Sorry I haven't been in touch for a while, my other half has been very ill which has meant as well as my job I've been having to look after my little baby too. Well, I say little, she's 14 months now and I reckon she could probably look after herself seeing as shes such a clever baby.........anyway, back on track, I'll have the shipdata's sent over to you asap!

Don't worry about it. The real world is more important!
Resized your pic with Paint, so looks ok and fits the screen.

The screen/window can be any dimensions. The only way to consistently give the appearence of filling it with a picture is to use a black background. Maybe Giles can be prevailed upon to add a setBackgroundColor: method for mission screens…

Yup quite right. But if I keep it to a 4:3 width/height ratio then it shouldn't stretch out of shape like it has done.

Sorry I streched it!
If you are gonna redo it, do you want to make the background black instead of grey as I think that will look better. I think to fit on the mission screen images need to be about 512 x 512

512 x 512? Ah yes, looking at the images in the Oolite folder for the Trumbles and Nova mission, looks like you're right, 512x512 would be the best size. Cheers. Dunno why I didn't just do that in the first place!
