I've made my first foray into multiplayer combat this morning. So far I've been little more than cannon fodder. Managed a few hits on player ships but no kills yet. A few deaths of my commander though.

That's one of the reasons I've never really enjoyed online multiplayers - a few very good players delight in destroying new commers before they can learn how to play. Could be why I've always played Elite.

That and too many stroppy teenagers. I've got one of them of my own, don't need to go online to find more.

Change Log for 2.0:

• VEC Crash fixed and should no longer occur
• Settings are saved and stored between game sessions so restarting the game no longer resets settings to default
• Black fuzzy effects on asteroids no longer appear
• Aspect ratio fixed so full cockpit is always visible on any aspect ratio
• Side panel text readable after changing resolution so the text no longer runs off-screen
• Debris colliding with ship now does considerably less damage
• Selecting nearest hostile no longer locks onto friendly targets
• Oculus Rift reset button now functioning correctly
• Now able to access the side panels/modules when using Oculus Rift
• Players are now able to activate Rift Mode when monitor and Oculus are set as duplicate displays
• Now able to use Mouse Wheel for throttle
• Changing between Flight Assist on or off no longer changes the roll rate
• TrackIR5 optimisations abolish strange snapping from one angle of view to another
• Visual glitch when deploying hardpoints will no longer occur
• Factions now completes for the player when either side wipes out the other
• No longer a delay on Factions between the jump FX appearing and the ships themselves appearing
• Controls screen labels updated
• White rectangles no longer appear on the reticule when missiles hit Anaconda
• Information when rebinding controls is now clearer to understand
• Bobblehead no longer breaks and detaches

• Players can now scoop cargo (not toxic waste canisters) by deploying their cargo scoop (if they have one) by pressing Home, targeting the cargo canister then using the widget to guide their approach to it.
• Players can eject all of their cargo with a simple command (End button) or by browsing their cargo manifest and selecting individual canisters to jettison.
• New tabs are included on the left and right side panels.
• Within the new options panel the player can toggle and change various settings about their ship.
• There is a new throttle mode that can be used called Incremental throttle (allows players to bind throttle up and down to fixed increment sizes; useful for mouse wheel functionality).
• Players can earn credits during the multiplayer scenarios and then can spend those credits to start new sessions with different load outs. Each load out must be bought every time the player wishes to use it in a new session so it's important to keep the credits rolling in each time a player tries a session.
• Credits can be earned by trading in cargo to the two anacondas (Mastopolos Prospect and Lode Monger) in the mining belt by attacking miners and stealing their cargo (players can attack the cargo hatch to try and force a malfunction to spit cargo out).
• Credits can be earned by destroying players with bounties on their heads.
• Credits can be earned by destroying other faction ships to that which the player allies with.
• Credits can be earned by defending the capital ship.
• There is a cargo scanner module available that can be used (by assigning it to a fire group) to scan other ships. To perform a scan the player needs to hold the applicable trigger down until the bar underneath is filled up (keeping the target in sight). Once filled the player can look at the cargo manifest in their left hand panel.

• New planets: Post Gaian, Selenian and Hephaestian
• new star system
• New asteroids
• Interactive lighting on vfx
• Federal capital ship
• Cargo pods and functioning cargo scoop
• Mining VFX

• Improved Oculus screen detection
• Removed several oculus viewport bugs
• Fixed black edge artefacts
• Fixed size/aspect ratio bugs on target reticules when resizing window
• Improvements to planet generation efficiency/quality/lighting
• Moved motion ladders inside cockpit
• Fixed FOV issue on wide monitor setups

I've just watched some vids of ED and also Alpha 2. Not too clear if someone is attacking you from behind as it stands. It is nice to see the furball though.
Also it seems that Anaconda's are though. But the combat looks fun.

Probably a silly question but..As this is available to download on Android;

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... dcountdown

Does it follow then that the game itself will be available Android also?

I only ask because I can find no game nearly as good or similar on google play to satiate my thirst for an open ended space trading sim.

That is only a fan-made app for a countdown to the release (not on Android) of E: D - which of course is daft, as there is no announced release date.

Thanks for the link Jaz. I don't have the money nor the computer, but watching the gameplay, it's brilliant!

Get them employed NOW, while they still know everything.
