abandoned ships
keep making piolots eject from there ship, can i claim the abandoned ship & either swap for mine or sell it?
With the Dredgers OXP, you can buy salvaging missiles. With these, you can hack into the autopilot of the ship and let it fly to the next Dredger. This way, you can sell it.
Pirates will try to destroy the autopiloted ship since it won't dodge or fire back and might have some nice freight. Especially in anarchic systems, it can be very hard to get a autopiloted ship to the Dredger safely.
Good luck!

Corny mentioned that pirates will attack freight ships: which is why you should try to take out the freight ships before you attack their escorts, as the escorts will remain with the ships after you have taken control of them.
You will also find the measly 185c price of a salvage missile more than compensated for when you salvage your captured ship

Hmm i'm unsure if this works with ships that you cause to become abandoned. Dredgers intoroduces already abandoned ships into every system. Still I haven't been keeping up with that oxps updates.
Generally getting a ship back is very hard. You'll also find clean ships flating around an auto ship. Police getting in the way. It is not a pass time for the feint hearted or easily annoyed as it will "do" your blood pressue.

It became possible with Oolite 1.73 even with the older dredger.oxp. In the newer oxp versions there are now less deliberate added derelicts.ClymAngus wrote:Hmm i'm unsure if this works with ships that you cause to become abandoned. As a safeguard only ships capable of flying more than 50 m/sec? can be salvaged. But that should include almost every normal ship.
The main trick is not to follow your salvaged ship but to estimate its destination and fly ahead to clear its flight path from pirates. Don't wait till they start attacking your abandoned ship.
Don't bother with small ships. They are not worth the effort. Interesting are the bigger ships with a lot of cargo, like anacondas. Such ships give the big bonuses on salvaging.
UPS-Courier & DeepSpacePirates & others at the box and some older versions
That actually works? I thought the auto piloted ship would "trigger" the pirates.Eric Walch wrote:The main trick is not to follow your salvaged ship but to estimate its destination and fly ahead to clear its flight path from pirates. Don't wait till they start attacking your abandoned ship.
I'll try that
As far as I can see, it does trigger pirates, but they don't appear right on top of you, they appear on the route the bot ship takes to the dredger. Which means, flying ahead of the salvaged ship means you encounter the pirates first, and can attract all their attention onto your own ship.
I had my first successful salvage today, a starhawk, and got 3,500 credits for it. Nice

50 cents doesn't seem like much for making a pair of $100+ training shoes, and yet ... The bottom end of a supply chain never makes much money: that's what keeps them on the bottom.mcarans wrote:Hmm. I found salvaging a Boa II Clipper gave a rather measly 2500 credits or thereabouts. Doesn't seem like much for such a big ship with working engines and probably a lot else still intact.
