RIP Dan O'Bannon

Post by Selezen »

Just learned today that Dan O'Bannon, the creative mind behind Dark Star and one of the driving forces behind Alien, Blade Runner and Total Recall, died yesterday after a short illness.

Another sci-fi legend gone but not forgotten.

it's been a bad year. We also lost Patrick Dowling, the man who invented "vision on" and "the adventure game". Old things but underpinnings of my psyche.

I thought I was the only one who remembered/adored "The adventure Game" - totally amazing - I used to watch it with my dad (that and "The Great Egg Race") - it was one of the few things I think we did together when I was kid. Sad news indeed...

Don't forget that we also lost the author of Elite - The Dark Wheel, Robert Holdstock.

It's a bad year for storytelling.
